A charming old house. Period furnishings. The bed was good. The shower was good. The breakfast was great. The location was great. Right next to the park along the bayou. You can walk to restaurants. The parking is along the street.

Old Castillo is a wonderfully down home inn with a very welcoming proprietor. Lovely setting. The decor is decidedly old fashioned, in the best way [think of your grandmother]. Next to the park along the Bayou Teche.

This B&B is totally worth a visit. The single rooms are all designed differently and historic. The owner is super friendly and helpful. The breakfast is outstanding, the pancakes were the best ones I ever had. Enjoy a bottle of wine on the balcony next to the famous oak!

We got two spacious rooms - one with balcony - though we arrived late in the afternoon. The hostess have clearly done a lot to make the place comfortable and stylish the southern way. Breakfast is free and you can get a glass of wine and a snack if you sneak into the kitchen late at night. We even negotiated... More

The wife and I have stayed in other bed and breakfast's in the past and we were impressed with the history of the Old Castillo house, the cleanliness, and how the owner did not hover or micro-manage our stay. The room and bed was quite comfortable and served our needs nicely. The breakfast was good although a bit less in... More

What a great b&b! The staff is so courteous and polite! You feel welcomed, almost like visiting a relative! It is a beautiful place, peaceful yet in the middle of town. Very captivating. The rooms were clean and spacious, with authentic antique furniture. Breakfast was delicious! The peanut butter fudge and homemade soap is THE BEST! I look forward to... More

+ We stayed in the "Gabriel" room and had a wonderful huge veranda. The location of the mansion is romantic near the river and the oaks. Quiet. The area is safe and we could walk to the Restaurants. Parking was easy. Welcome was friendly and the breakfast very good (fruit was lacking though). Close to the best swamptour on beautiful... More

Thank you for your great review. Your suggestion about fruit is a good one. We will begin to offer a few at breakfast. Only a few requests are made for this, but, it is an easy fix. Wish you had told me about the armoire. It was probably only stuck. We don't ever lock it. We do have downstairs rooms... More

We had a very peaceful and relaxing stay. Breakfasts were among the very best we've ever had at B&B's. The town and neighborhood is very quiet and low key. The only thing noisy in the Old Castillo are the old wood floors and stairs. Our room was enormous, bed comfortable, Wi-Fi quite reasonable.

Our stay was a bit on the crazy side, things uncontrollable by the owner. First, the water had to be shut off, so we couldn't use the bathroom, and thought we might have to move to another lodging. It was fixed, but the water stayed discolored until after breakfast the next day. Not something that could be helped, we understand.... More

Thank you for your review. Yes, it seems you had more of hapless things to happen. Sorry about that. Of course, as you stated, we could not help the water break or the street sweeper or the church bells. Some of our guests comment that they enjoy the church bells and the birds singing at their window. Most guests are... More
