My partner and I booked a three night stay in Twybil at the end of August. Before arriving we were a little concerned as it had been raining all week, and was in fact raining when we arrived. All of those worries disappeared when we started down the woodland track to the tent. I can only describe it as magical. We spent the first night making pizzas (which turned out really good much to my pessimistic surprise!) Due to being sheltered by trees and the large parasol we remained dry and if anything the sounds of rain added to the atmosphere. My one tip if making pizzas is to start early, as it gets more tricky in the dark. Due to being a glamping experience, I assumed we'd be given basic equipment, but everything provided was top of the range and really added to the luxurious experience. The tent itself was cosy and the bed really comfortable (make use of the heated blanket as it gets cold at night.) you have a short minute walk to the toilet, washing up sink and shower but the quiet nature of the camp meant we rarely passed any other guests. The best bit of the whole stay was, without a doubt, the shower. We ended up having more than we needed as we couldnt get enough. We had planned to go off to pubs and eat out more but after the first night we just wanted to spend more time sat around the fire and listening to the animals in the trees around us. The only disturbance we had was from the neighbourly Robin, desperate to get into our pizza supplies! If you're booking, make sure you bring torches, warm clothes and suitable shoes in case it rains. The only downside I can think of is we are now put off any other glamping experiences as this has set the bar too high! We wil definitely be back.…
What a treat staying at Twybil the bell tent. My husband and I decided to try glamping to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. We originally wanted to stay for 3 nights, but the whole site was fully-booked (we know why now). Excellent choice as Guy, the owner, had thought of everything from the torch by the bedside to the wood-fired pizza oven. The outdoor kitchenette has everything one needs to make a decent meal, plus the bbq which doubles as an outdoor log fire. The tree shower is something else, a delight to shower under the tree canopy and the stars (at night), and with plentiful hot water. The king-sized bed is so comfy and warm, it was an effort to get out of bed in the morning. We jokingly suggested for Guy to design and make a timed catapult for the bed. We had the wood burner on which made the inside of the tent really warm and cosy. Everything is kept immaculately clean, and with charging sockets for mobiles, etc, what more does one need. And there's always someone we can contact if an issue arose, there was none, as expected. Guy even texted us the morning after we arrived to ask if we've had our morning cuppa as there was a concern that the gas bottle for the cooking rings will run out. It didn't, but we were impressed at the personal touch. Plus, we were visited by what must be a resident robin when we were having breakfast, and ogled at by a squirrel whilst contemplating the world on the hammock. We already miss this bit of paradise! 5* all the way! …
We booked the Twybil tent for 2 nights in August 2020, but only managed to stay for the one night. Unfortunately, the only positive we got from it was the pizza oven. As much as we expected to be around wildlife, what we didn’t expect was to see mice running around our tent whilst we were cleaning our teeth. Also, all our belongings plus the bedding provided was damp, which wasn’t pleasant. This cost us £200 and is definitely not value for money. Expecting a lot more, we left very disappointed & left less than 24 hours after checking in.
I'm not one to write reviews but this place is to good not to.We stayed in bodger the shepherd's hut and well.... It was just the best place ever, literally what dreams are made of.I loved the shower (it was amazing) and they have also got everything you need, shampoo, conditioner etc. Cooking was easy and again everything was well thought of. Oh and not to forget the bed was the most comfortable bed iv ever slept on, when I came back to my own bed, well! Mine was just disappointing haha! The surroundings are beautiful and throughout the day the cows would pop by to say hello, which was lovely.the sound of wild birds was just the most relaxing thing. I will definetly be staying here again. 10+++. I loved every minute.
This is our second visit having previously stayed in Coracle ( pre COVID). This time we opted for Twybil the bell tent. As soon as we entered the woodland and walked towards our home for the weekend both my husband and I immediately relaxed. We were in heaven. All of the thought and effort that has gone into making the woodland ‘safe’ in the present climate is exceptional. The outdoor kitchens are brilliant as are the pizza ovens. Alongside the dough which can be purchased from the honesty shop, we had an amazing first nights meal of pizza. The bed is so comfy and although we didn’t need to put the wood burner on, I can imagine how cosy it would be on a colder evening. Another favourite is the outdoor shower. Love it. We have promised ourselves a stay here every year and I hope to one day move up in luxury to the tree house. Until then though I am more than happy to try out the tipi and the shepherds hut. Thank you Guy and team. Two very happy customers. Lucy & Joff Greer…
