Parkhead House offers unique overnight cottage stays with the added benefit of welcoming hosts and a great Scottish breakfast. This former Gamekeepers cottage is on the edge of an idyllic deer Park in open countryside yet only 15 minutes from Edinburgh Airport. We are just a short walk from "Lallybroch" and Hopetoun House both featured in the Outlander television series. We have two suites (a twin on the ground floor, and a two-bedroom suite on the 1st floor) all with wonderful views and access the parkland. Each suite is individual yet beautifully appointed with the highest standard of furnishings and can be booked for a stay of one night or for a stay as long as you require. We offer the freedom and flexibility of your own floor combined with the welcome of a traditional bed and breakfast. We are pet friendly and offer both Outlander, whisky and sightseeing tours of Scotland.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a wonderful one night stay at Parkhead House in June. Everything from the location, the breakfast and the kindness of our hosts made this stay one of our favorites in Scotland. I loved being so close to Midhope Castle (Lallybroch from Outlander). James and Angela shared so many interesting facts about Outlander and the surrounding area. I only wish we could have stayed longer. We will be back for a longer stay! The Hermsteins

Amazing hospitality, large private sitting area, large bedroom. Every amenity was provided with wonderfully friendly hosts. An information book provided valuable information about transportation options. There is even an optional Outlander tour by James, the host, showing the areas of filming of the show, all which quite near by.

Amazing B&B. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, rooms were well stocked and the hosts were lovely. The B&B is located in a perfect location in the quiet countryside but near town and tourist destinations. The deer park behind the house was a big plus!

Stayed at Parkhead House for 2 wonderful nights in March. James was the perfect host and tour guide. The accommodation was spotless, cosy & comfortable. Plenty of choice for our breakfast each morning. Parkhead House is a few miles out of town and both nights we drove into South Queensferry for dinner. Would love to stay again when we next visit Edinburgh.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Parkhead House. The rooms are well appointed and the overall ambience is 5 Star+. The host was welcoming and accommodating and the setting private and peaceful despite despite being within an easy commute of Edinburgh, the Edinburgh Airport and local shopping destinations.

Parkhead House is a delight beyond measure. You will quickly feel right at home in this fantastic Scottish Countryside establishment. Every detail has been thought through and provided for - It’s truly magical. The hosts are some of the kindest people on the planet, and it’s clear they take pride in their livlihood. We couldn’t have been happier spending time here and are already planning our return. 10 stars and a bottle of Scotch - it simply doesn’t get any better.

Our first accommodation In Edinburgh cancelled on us last minute and we managed to happen across this gem thankfully. What an amazing place to stay. Clean and tidy. Hosts were very welcoming and generous. There isn’t another accommodation that we’ve stayed in that would beat this. Situated in beautiful surroundings!! We would love to return here again one day!! Worth so much more than 5 stars!!

I chose to stay at Parkhead house for my wedding weekend as my wedding was at Hopetoun house and I knew it was a great private location. As my husband and I are both outlander fans, the cottage was also a perfect romantic honeymoon suite that made us feel like our own Jamie and Claire. The cottage is on the Hopetoun estate and about a 20 minute drive to the center of Edinburgh, which means you can be close to all the sites, escape the crowds , and have a tranquil stay. The cottage is stunning, charming, and rustic, everything a cottage should be. The views are insane and getting to see deer in the back yard when waking was surreal. As a city girl I'm not used to nature right outside my door. My dog loved his stay and the garden which made him more excited to roam. He also loved James , Angela and their adorable doggie. Outlander was one of my reasons for getting married in Scotland and at Hopetoun (which the show is filmed at, with Parkhead being very close to Midhope castle (Lallybroch). James knows everything there is to know about Outlander, the estate grounds, & history, which is awesome. He also holds tours which I highly recommend if you have the chance to go on one during your stay. Both James & Angela are the sweetest and nicest people you will ever meet. The fact that they went above and beyond for my stay was so wonderful. They even helped me with my dog who has some separation anxiety. Angela became like another mom to him, and he was spoiled with cuddles. I do not easily trust people with my little guy but I knew right away that they were very special people who I could trust. Angela was also with me on my wedding day, helping out with our dog and keeping us ladies calm. She took some beautiful photos of me which was so sweet , and got some stunning shots of my boy at Midhope in his dog tuxedo after she had already taken him to see us for some wedding pics. Parkhead will always have a special place in my heart thanks to James and Angela who are simply the best and feel like family. I hope to come back for a visit as soon as I can. I highly recommend staying here whether you’re an outlander fanatic or just want to be somewhere relaxing, with amazing people.

We stayed here for 2 nights as my husband was on business in Edinburgh but we were heading north with our 2 dogs so needed space and a dog friendly stay. Parkhead House was outstanding. Not just for the dogs (lots of walks from the front door), we had a great time. Everything was catered for, dressing gown, slippers, toiletries, snacks, drinks in the fridge and an array of tea of coffee. There was wood for the fire even though the heating is more than cosy enough. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the bedding and pillows were top notch. James is very welcoming and we enjoyed our chats with him. He makes an outstanding breakfast (but you do have access to their kitchen at all times if you want to do something for yourself). A peaceful and welcoming place on the edge of a deer park and close to Edinburgh. We will definitely be returning to.

There’s a reason Parkhead House is rated 1 out of 4 for a stay in South Queensferry. I’ve traveled all over the world to some wonderful B&Bs & I’ve never experienced the care & attentiveness that we received from James & Angela. Besides being absolutely lovely accommodations and beautiful grounds, there was not a detail overlooked! I was with a friend on this trip but my husband & I are already talking about a return trip to Scotland; we had no intentions of going back to the Edinburgh area again but are going to JUST so we can stay at Parkhead House!
