We stayed here for a weekend while visiting Murrayfield for the rugby. It’s an ideal location with great transport to the game readily available! The breakfast was great and the room we chose was clean, comfy and had a great view of the bridge out the window. We would definitely recommend staying here and plan to do so again at some point in the future.

We stayed here for a night whilst visiting friends, and found it to be fabulous! We stayed in room 1 and the room was spacious and ideal for a short trip, however the water in the shower could have been a wee bit hotter. We had lunch and breakfast here and the food was delicious; home cooked, fresh and tasty! and was very good value for money . The bar's draft beers and cider were excellent. The overall hotel and the public areas were spotless and they are dog friendly offering wee treats and water bowls; a nice touch for those with furry friends. The staff were friendly and efficient and we would definitely stay here again! The location is perfect with spectacular views across the Forth and its magnificent bridges.

I stayed overnight on business and the room was beautiful and very comfortable. Bed was great and I had a good night’s sleep. The location is stunning, right next to the iconic Forth rail bridge and views are very social media friendly! Will definitely return here again.

Went in for food. Stood waiting be seated for 10 mins so sat down at a table when no one came. Went to grab a menu and heard a couple asking if it was table service. Server ( lady about 50-60 short hair) told them to wait there to be seated. I said oh sorry we waited for 10 mins and got fed up waiting and sat down and was rudely and embarrassingly loudly shouted at that there was a queuing system!! Relayed id waited 10 mins to be seated and there was no queue so got our coats and left. Understand it was busy but not paying for the privilege of being spoken to like that. Wont be back.

We stayed for one night whilst visiting family in the area. The bed was very comfortable and the room was okay, but didn’t have a wardrobe - only a very small hanging rail on the wall. The great thing was the number of plugs available which included USB sockets! Breakfast was fine - this was included in our booking but, on leaving the restaurant, we were asked to pay. Luckily, I had the proof, so it was sorted okay.

Awful experience. Rooms were terrible - maybe they have decent ones but the ones allocated to us were awful. One was in the basement. Dark, smelly, shower didn’t drain and toilet seat doesn’t stay up so you sit down to have a toilet seat resting on your back. Disgusting. It is room 3.

Stayed for two nights at the hotel. Room was clean and tidy, albeit slightly worn in places. the menu was wide ranging and the food excellent. The breakfasts were enormous and delicious. Pub is literally underneath the Forth Rail Bridge, so great ambiance, but some minor train noise as a result.

We walk in and are blanked by two staff. At bar, staff member is chatting with cook. We are ignored then looked at as though we’re an inconvenience. Menu request elicits a snippy response. Against my better judgement we sit in cafe area - four tables, three with dirty cups etc. Staff members wander by, none look at uncleared tables. Coffee comes, wait person removes a used cup from our table - leaves the second. Customers arrive and move dirty tableware onto another table. Staff continue to pass by, one removes two cups from the pile of used crockery. There appears to be a policy of staff shadowing each other - they predominantly move in pairs. We sit for thirty minutes - the entire time there is a dirty cup on our small table. The table which customers are using as a collection point remains uncleared. Crumpled napkin stays on floor. Housekeeping for rooms upstairs bring plastic wrapped soiled sheets through bar and dining areas. I counted at least ten staff and had difficulty deciding what their roles were as there was a great deal of aimlessly slow wandering with no activity. Having had a lovely experience at The Hawes Inn pre Covid - the place has gone downhill. I was more than unimpressed. Dreadful.

We have been staying at the Hawes for a number of years, in picturesque South Queensferry. Great location for visting Edinburgh or driving up north to coastal villages, Fife, St Andrews. The renovations made about a year ago have made a definite improvement, especially to the bathrooms.
