We stayed three nights at the Inn while in Caratunk for a wedding across the street. We enjoyed talking with the owner, Eric, who had plenty of stories and history lessons about the Inn and the area. The B&B was simple, but was not missing anything. The "shared" bathrooms are all very clean with clean towels daily. There are six...

We reserved a room through booking.com for a stop on our way to Canada and when we arrived the owner didn't know we had a reservation. He did eventually find it (and no one else was booked that night - the place was empty) so we did get our room. Like many older B&Bs there are quirks, like the fact...

This historic b&b is well cared for and run by a retired engineer and his son. Rooms are clean; beds are comfortable. Rates are reasonable. Eric and Zack are friendly, industrious, and helpful. Transportation can be arranged for hikers, etc. Light breakfast is provided, and you can get a burger if you like. Located about a mile from the AT....

Very cozy! Felt like I was in someone's home. The owner is friendly and helpful also very knowledgeable about the history of the inn. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Lots of choices for breakfast.

This is a lovely spot for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful countryside. Nicely decorated rooms are spotless. Bathrooms are shared but convenient to the bedrooms. Common areas are comfortable and spacious. Excellent continental breakfast. Inn staff were very accommodating and friendly.

To start, this place is very pet friendly which is always nice. The room was quaint and the breakfast was very filling. Sure, the room didn't have AC, but the weather was nice so AC was completely unnecessary. Everything was clean, and the building itself is in excellent condition The Sterling Inn is a family business and Eric and Zach...

We were driving through the area, and it was getting late-ish (10:30pm) so we decided to stop here, it looked good, the lights were on. I walked in, and rang the bell "for service" as the sign said. The guy who came seemed angry and he was very rude from the start. If he had just told me to leave,...

Eric A, Owner at The Sterling Inn, responded to this review

My sincere apologies to this traveler. There is no question that I was unacceptably rude. However, there are two sides to every story. This is a bed and breakfast inn and I arise at 6 am daily to prepare breakfast. When this guest rang the bell at 10:30, it woke me from a sound sleep--it took me several minutes to...

Nice location about 1.5 miles from the trail with shuttle service to anywhere you would need to go. The Inn has a good hiker resupply shop and accepts packages. Breakfast is included with your accommodation.

We planned to do some photography and waterfall hikes on RT. 201, so this location was great. So close to everywhere we were going. The house is huge and has a cool history. I can imagine during the busy season it might be hopping with hikers, but that would have been fine with us. We were here at the very...

Stayed at the Sterling Inn during a white water rafting trip on the Kennebec River. Very nice and homey. It really did feel like home. Maybe its a Maine thing but no AC but the August nights we were there were nice enough with just the windows open. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful, suggesting places to...
