We stopped there in late September due to an aborted sailing trip, and took advantage of their drop- in rate. They clearly have spent a lot of time making this somewhat Victorian dwelling into a friendly and welcoming hostelry. Close to a beautiful little harbor, under tall elm trees...a lovely place to see and stay. Castine is a view into traditional small town Maine. The Inn has lovely rooms, great beds, good food and very friendly staff. Don't miss a chance to visit with the fascinating innkeeper, Jack.

Stressed out? Need a real break? This is the place for you! The inn, the town, the people, the views, all combine for a perfect getaway. We came here to unwind and did just that. A fascinating bar, relaxing porch, good conversation and off the beaten track. Spend a weekend or a week you'll leave transformed.

The Pentgoet is a charming Inn that is clean, comfortable and inviting. Fortunately, over the years it has maintained its character and still offers all the modern conveniences. The bedroom was good sized with a clean bathroom and functional antique furnishings. The sitting rooms are warm and interesting. Breakfast was perfect.

The Inn is located a block from the Castine water front. Food in the restaurant is 1st class, with very good service. Rooms are in a period New England inn, with lots of antiques. Owners are most personable and helpful. Breakfast could be more varied.
