Hard to add much to the previous reviews...they say it all. The hosts are most accommodating, the rooms have everything one might anticipate, breakfast is great, etc., etc. Large yard space by the river with gazebo in yard. Great location in a historic Maine village. Very quiet, only a few restaurants in area, + one grocery store on the corner.

My husband and I have just visited the Englishman's Bed and Breakfast for the third time. It is a beautiful large home filled with antiques, sitting on the Narraguagus River. It is the very best of Maine. There is a lovely gazebo sitting on the grounds where guests can sit and read, with the sounds of the river in their... More

Rooms excellent. Hosts excellent. Food excellent. Perhaps the best bed I have ever slept on. A holiday experience rather than somewhere to stay the night. Driving south from Bangor and entering the town from the north we thought we had made a mistake but the 200 year old house is delightfully situated next to a river

Peter and Kathy are such warm and caring hosts, they really went out of their way to accommodate and make us feel comfortable and welcome. The breakfasts were AMAZING, as Peter and Kathy both are excellent chefs!! I cannot recommend this B & B enough, you will feel like you are royalty while you are staying at this lovely place!

I was planning on staying with my father who lives in Cherryfield ME right down the street from the Englishmen's B&B. I got so sick from my father's cigarette smoke that I went on line at 3 a.m. and emailed every inn and hotel, motel, from Milbridge to Machias and everyone was booked. I got an email back from Peter... More

The hosts were most accommodating - arriving late - they made us tea and served us English chocolate from their own "stash". The full breakfast was exceptionally good - totally delicious way to start off our day.

Fantastic to stay in a well preserved authentic 18th c home. A real hearty b&b breakfast, delicious. Lovely location on the river in historic district. Quiet, tasteful and welcoming of our family. No other options are of this caliber in the area.

Once again, there's not a lot of options up this way but no worries, because you won't need any others. It is a quaint and beautiful farm house in a nice sleepy Maine town. I passed through on a long bike ride so I was too exhausted to take full advantage of checking out the small town but what I... More

This B&B is definitely for travelers who enjoy getting off the beaten path. However, it is well worth the effort. We really enjoyed the River Room where we were lulled to sleep by the Narraguagus River flowing right behind the property. There are beautiful gardens and a gazebo outside available to guests . Breakfast was extremely tasty...amazing cottage cheese crepes... More

My friend and I were on a genealogical trip (my great-grandparents were born there). We stayed several nights in the Carriage House (most helpful to cook our own meals at night). It was also terrific because of how serene and relaxing the surroundings were. Peter and Kathy were delightful hosts and most accommodating with my special breakfast requests. Although I... More
