Our deluxe private cabin had a warm fire in the stove when we arrived after snowshoeing in a beautiful, Maine woods, seven miles with friends. One of us took the optional ride in from the parking area on a snowmobile. At six we had turkey with all the trimmings and an optional IPA in the big, natural-wood dining hall with...

This AMC owned and managed facility deep in Maine's Moosehead Lake region woods is world class. Ski or snowshoe in or get a snowmobile ride and you will experience a modern, totally green building with every amenity including well prepared meals- breakfast, lunch and dinner. Spent two nights at Gorman Chairback Lodge, part of the Appalachian Mountain club's group of facilities in the Moosehead Lake area of Maine. From the very start I knew we were in good hands; warmly greeted by Brent who attended to all of our needs, answered our questions and along with the crew Sarah, Chris , Ethan and Abigail prepared...

We had an amazing weekend with 20 women x country skiing. 2 nights..one at Lyford, one at Gorman. The trip was flawless thanks to help from the people at the lodges. A few highlights: the sauna at both locations was great way to end the day. The naturalist Katie had a fun evening walk/talk outside that got everyone up and...

Our annual extended family stay was as wonderful as ever - three days of Northwoods beauty, cozy accommodations, excellent food and staff support, and three generations of skiers, ping-pong players, jigsaw puzzlers, story tellers and childhood reacquaintences that were a foundation for very interesting new acquaintances with other guests and the not-very-bashful staff. Hope to repeat this for many more...

This is the 4th year in a row my wife and I have stayed here, first it was 3 nights, then 5, then 6 and this time 7 nights. Fantastic, serene, unspoiled location. We brought our own kayaks and paddled on Long Pond every day, going all the way to the opposite end one day, in addition to hiking nearby...

I can't say enough good things any Sarah, Nathan and Chris. They were the most welcoming professional team of people I've had the pleasure of meeting. We were so spoiled throughout our stay, the accommodations were beautiful, the food was amazing and I look forward to going back. A 5 star rating just isn't enough!

Everything about the Lodge and Cabin was terrific! Chef Nate's food was absolutely delicious....the staff - Chris and Sarah were a delight! Our deluxe cabin was perfect and we totally needed to be off the grid! Canoeing the lake was incredible with spectacular foliage. It was our first visit, but we will be back for sure. Thank you Gorman Chairback...

We stayed in cabin 11, which worked very well for our family of 4 (two adult daughters). Private bath. This lodge is in a beautiful site right on a lake, and we had a great time using their kayaks, canoes and SUPs. The food was really good, the best of all of the many AMC lodges and huts we've stayed...
