We picked this inn because it was so close to Maine Medical Center. It was delightful. We had a ground floor room with exposed brick on one wall. It was nicely decorated. The bathroom was well appointed with robes and slippers; even toothbrushes. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

Spent one night as a last minute getaway. Great value, great location, wonderful staff, comfortable room. Why just four stars? Sorry, had to. Nice room, one of last two available. On busy Main Street side so noisy. Will definitely be back and try for another room. Free parking, good continental breakfast and friendly, helpful staff on all shifts we met....

tpdstag- Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your recent stay. We appreciate the great comments about service, room quality, parking, breakfast and are very sorry the street noise disturbed you. Being located in the heart of Portland, there are bound to be unavoidable times when the traffic is louder than usual. Thanks for choosing the...

I loved this place and plan to go back next time I'm in Portland. It is a beautiful old Victorian Inn on the outside and luxurious on the inside. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. They serve a Continental breakfast and also keep snacks and drinks out for guests. The beds are comfortable and even though the bathroom was not...

The inn at St. John is one of the hidden gems of Portland. Not a lot of amenities but a beautiful clean spacious room. And free parking which is hard to find in Portland. The people manning the front desk were so helpful in the continental breakfast was very nice.

We were in Portland during the off season, but not too off season. Got a great rate and the hotel is close-ish to downtown and close to the airport. The place has an old world feel but the amenities of a modern hotel. Super nice people. My room was huge, nicely appointed, with a modern bathroom, all amenities, and nice...

My choice for cosy stay in Portland Maine, staff is genuinely warm and helpful! I had already checked out and didn't notice that my wallet had fallen out of my coat in closet,so I'd like to especially thank Bobbi, one of the maids who scoured room quickly and found it for me!Another employee named Will who had been shoveling snow...

No elevator, so be prepared to walk up stairs to your room ... Perhaps MANY stairs. Very nice, informative welcome from Glen. Extremely clean, warm and well appointed, but our room was very small (which was ok), but the bed seemed unusually small for a double. No hot water in the evening. Close to restaurants. Breakfast included but seating is...

We've left with the impression that only THE NICEST people work at The Inn. Regarding the building itself, it is very nice. Furniture is beautiful, rooms are charming. Our private bathroom (at room 5A) was a small one, with the ceiling on the shower being particularly low. The steep stairs can be a challenge - specially for those with big...
