Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our room overlooked the harbor and it was interesting to watch cars lined up for the ferry. We enjoyed the delicious breakfasts. Especially the blueberry coffee cake, which served as a birthday cake for my partner. Fresh fruit and eggs served in two different ways. A wonderful weekend with special memories

The pictures on the web do not depict the reality of this B&B. The room for $250 although spacious is rundown uncomfortable sterile with maybe a 32 inch TV. No soap or amenities provided at all. The decorating attempt at mid-century just comes off as cheap. When telling the owner we were not staying his first words were “yeah well you have to pay” very little interest in “Why” we left.

After an initial bad first impression, we had a really nice stay. We arrived on a very rainy day for a one night stay with our dog and two young adult sons on the last leg of our mid-coast Maine vacation. The inn is on a very busy main road, right next to a Verizon store and across from a ferry terminal, so it's not exactly scenic. Maybe there are pretty views on a nice day. As noted in other reviews, the porch was desperately in need of a good sweeping and a power wash, with weeds growing through the cracks in the steps, and the front room was a bit cluttered, with old newspapers piled up and scraggly houseplants. We had been told we could check in any time after 2:00, so we arrived right at 2:00 pm, but there was a sign on the office door that said "Back at 2:30." Thinking I had made a bad decision, I sat on the couch and began searching my phone for alternate accommodations. I decided to poke around and found our room, a 2-bedroom suite, with the door open, and it was really quite nice, so we decided to stay. I am glad we did. Our suite was lovely - there was one bedroom with a queen bed and another with 2 twins and a private bath which was beautifully renovated. The shower was excellent, and the tea tree shampoo and conditioner were luxurious and refreshing. The beds were super comfy, and we really appreciated being able to bring our little dog. The inn was a 2-minute walk to the charming downtown area, including the Museum of Fine Art. I woke very early the next morning to find the owners hard at work, making breakfast, the dining room beautifully set, and classical music playing. The breakfast was absolutely incredible! All in all, it was a really nice experience!

The inn has been beautifully restored and carefully decorated with fine antiques and modern touches. The location, with convenient access to major routes, is perfect for exploring the harbor area and main street on foot and visiting the Farnsworth museum and its Wyeth collection. Breakfast is outstanding in a comfortable, calm, and friendly atmosphere. Ed and Joan will welcome you and make sure that your stay is comfortable.

This place left lots to be desired. when we first arrived the was a Ginney hen awaiting to greet us. We stayed in the room with a dethatched bathroom. The room was the size of a broom closet. Pictures online do not show the true feel of this inn. I would recommend checking out the spouter Inn if in this area.

It was an OK B & B. Rather dated and really needs some TLC. The porch desperately needed to be cleaned as did the common area. Our room had a king bed which was nice, but there were 4 light bulbs either missing or burned out in the room and bathroom. The night we were there we were not able to get any reception on the TV. While it is within walking distance of the downtown area, it is across Rt 1 from the working waterfront, so the area itself is not particularly nice. The owners were congenial and provided a nice breakfast. Not sure if we'd stay there again.

Scenic Maine property with cosy and homey rooms. The breakfast was fantastic, amazing French toast with a surprise. The owners were friendly and went above and beyond including driving us to meet our Windjammer Schooner.

From the outside it looks a bit unusual and the Granite Inn IS unusual in a wonderful way. It provides a community for guests! Our room was fine--nothing fancy, but well maintained and tasteful. The innkeepers were an older couple--he a musician, she an artist. They are fine cooks and served up a fabulous breakfast both days we stayed there. They made the best hollandaise I've ever had on their eggs benedict! The guests--many of whom were regulars--were interesting people all, e.g. owner of a chocolate store moving to an island nearby, an L.A. based entertainment lawyer and a published woman writer. What interesting conversations took place around the breakfast tables. Definitely a place we would return for if we visit Rockland again.

We choose to spend a couple of nights here on a recent trip to Maine. It is more of a homey bed and breakfast than an inn but this was not an issue for us. We stayed in a queen room on the second floor of the original house. The room and bathroom were clean and the bed was comfortable. A light sleeper might want a room towards the back of the house since the inn sits on highway 1 and there is some road noise early in the morning. There is coffee and snacks available in the evening and they provided ice when we requested it. Breakfast was good with plenty of options. The owners were very helpful in providing information on places to visit and the location is great for sightseeing both north and south of Rockland.
