Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was part of a large group who stayed here of 3 days on a Maine tour. We were surprised at how nice the rooms they gave us were. We could sit on the balcony and see the ocean from our room in the annex. We were to busy to spend any time in the pools. Breakfast at the Sun and Surf restaurant across the street was part of our package and we were very impressed. The bed was comfortable. The members of the staff that we met were very nice.

Second stay here. Great location and views. Easy checkin and out. My only wish us they would invest in more comfortable mattresses and updating the rooms a bit. Otherwise, recommend staying. Get the deals though.

Very unwelcoming staff for checking in. No information given about the amenities, hours of operation, etc. Indoor pools close at 9 PM which is ridiculous since there is nothing else there to do. No restaurant, no bar, no nightlife within walking distance. The pools themselves are clean, but not heated which also is ridiculous considering the resort is in Maine.

Wonderful location with the beach just across the street. Rooms in the atrium space nicely renovated & appointed. Their restaurant Sun & Surf sits in the middle of two beaches across the street. We used all 3 pools & found them great! This property is ideal for kids as the rooms are pretty close to child proof already. Plus the convenience of having multiple pools, paired with the beach & access to your room. Naps & cleanup made easy. My only complaints to prevent from 5 stars is we left with 2 bad door dings from others due to extremely tight parking. You are required to sign off on all damages upon checkin. Also the pool bar was a great convenience but the bartender couldn’t understand anything. An underage kid was explaining how to make everything & then he wouldn’t even attempt to ring in any orders, just sent to the front desk or took exact cash. Two days in a row. No help, I know but all your staff at Sun & Surf were beyond competent!

We stayed here in June. The hotel room was clean and cozy. The grounds were nice and well kept. The front desk staff was helpful. We didn’t get to use any of the pools due to timing on our part. The location of this hotel is great! The beach is directly across the street. It’s a beautiful beach. There is also a restaurant across the street. You can walk to both the beach and restaurant. The food there was really good! I’d recommend this place and we will definitely be back!

We stayed here as a couple, as a little getaway without our kids. It was a great spot! The room and bathroom were both larger than we expected. And clean. Plus, we got a partial king room and had a lovely view of the ocean and a little balcony to sit on and enjoy the view. The ocean is ACROSS THE STREET. It's beautiful, and there is a lot to do in the area. Plus you can drive 20 min to Ogunquit for even more to do. There are two indoor pools and an outdoor pool, and we saw tons of families enjoying the pools with their kids. Highly recommend the Lobster Cove restaurant near the inn for dinner (get the blueberry pie!), walking on Ogunquit beach, and the Mornings in Paris cafe in Ogunquit (get the blueberries and cream pastry). We'd definitely come back to this inn with and without our kids.

The hotel is very nice. Our room, though very small, was clean. The view from a shared balcony was an incredible view of the ocean. The woman working in the breakfast bar was super friendly. The front desk staff needed improvement. I received an email upon booking for the total amount including a 9 % tax. I paid 1 night deposit. Prior to arrival I inquired about a room with a king bed. They said they switched our room. They never informed me of a room up charge. Upon arrival my card was charged 136 more than the confirmation stated. When o asked about it they told me it was a 9% tax which 1. Would not equal $136 on an $814 bill and 2. It clearly stated in my email confirmation that the 9% was already included. In the end I ended up overpaying. After the 9% tax did not add correctly they ended up saying it was an up charge for a king bed. Which I was never informed of. To make it worse the people at the front desk acted very impatient with me that I was questioning my bill. Customer service at this hotel needs to do better. The bottom line. Make sure you check your account to make sure what you are being charged is correct.

DO NOT STAY HERE! GRIMEY and DIRTY! RUDE STAFF WHO provides FAlSE INFORMATION! We found this hotel on hotels tonight, we decided to call the hotel to see if we would be able to ensure an ocean view w a King size bed (most of the hotel rooms are facing the ocean) the attendant on the phone told me that there were numerous rooms available w a view and king bed. She told me the price was $239 (with tax)… the same price as it was on hotels tonight I asked her if I should book through her or hotels tonight; she said IT DIDN’T MATTER. She took my name so that when I arrived, I would have a king bed w an ocean view. When we arrived they put us in front of the office w a queen bed. I asked her about what they promised while we were on the phone earlier? Then the very unprofessional, rude, manager named Novi, came out of the office to tell me that I would need to pay more for the King bed (the view wasn’t the issue for us as much as the bed size). After arguing w me and being extremely disrespectful towards me, I just asked for a refund. She refunded me for $175. I told her that we paid $239 and she said to me “not my problem, take it up with the third party” (which was hotels tonight). This isn’t my first rodeo with going though hotels tonight, I understand you book the room and you get what you get. My issue is, I called the hotel before booking though hotels tonight. They ensured that if I booked through hotels tonight, they would be able to accommodate our request without a problem. After taking our “non-refundable money” they tried getting us for more money when we showed up. On top of that, the room was FILTHY! The two attendants on duty were Raquel and Alexa… one of them was responsible for the false promise. RUDE! SHADY! UNPROFESSIONAL! DIRTY HOTEL! Go down the road to York Surf Club… clean, cheaper and much nicer staff. The two pools are nicer too.
