Good Timber comes from a poem about how trees grow strong. Vianne and Mike Bell have certainly grown a strong B&B! The rooms - the food - their hospitality could not be better. Breakfasts were terrific always prepared to the guests requirements, such as my wife's gluten intolerance. The "wine and cheese" hour was really a small meal. A couple... More

If you're looking for a bed & breakfast to escape from the hurly-burly of DC, one in a wonderfully designed lakeside house, with a personable hostess who makes not only delicious breakfasts but also spoils you with happy hour wine and hor d'ourves, Good Timber is delightful. This is the first B&B I've left wanting to return. Normally a B&B... More

We have been coming to Good Timber B&B for 11 years now, at least twice a year. Besides being a piece of heaven, and Vianne and Mike (Innkeepers) being the most wonderful people ever, I failed to mention in my last review the food part of this magical place. Breakfast is a feast to be sure. Vianne and Mike's special... More

This is a totally delightful place to relax and enjoy the view of the lake and the wooded surroundings, and don't miss the late afternoon wine and Vianne's creative, delicious hors d'oevres. Our room was super-comfortable, filled with lovely objects to admire, and had its own veranda facing the wooded area. Breakfast was a treat, but even more enjoyable is... More

My husband and I visited Good Timber Lodge for our "babymoon" in November of 2015 based on its excelled TripAdvisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The lodge took our breath away the moment we walked in with its beautiful decor. It is clear a lot of thought and planning went into this place. We stayed in one of the queen... More

Good Timber B&B is ranked as one of the two most remarkable B&Bs we have ever experienced.(We have stayed at quite a few over the years). It is only 1 of 2 B&Bs located on Deep Creek Lake in Oakland, MD. The other B&B is in the middle of a housing development. Good Timber is in a forested locale. Very... More

Vianne and Mike Bell are truly gifted at making you feel like one of the family at Good Timber. To date, I would have to say that our 3 days were the best B&B experience we have had to date. Exceptional decor and creative delicious breakfasts, evening wine, tasty treats and conversation attest to the devotion of our hosts in... More

My husband and I have stayed in many B&Bs but none that top the beauty of the Good Timber and the charm and spirit of its keepers, Vianne and Michael. We were lucky enough to have the cabin and innkeepers all to ourselves for a few days which allowed us to spend some quality time getting to know them. Their... More

Already booked next year. The home and room were beautiful and spotless! Michael and Vianne were great to get to know as well as their other guests. Until we can find our own home away from home this is where I want to be! Another advantage is that it is between McHenry and Oakland which makes for a great Deep... More

Our first bed & breakfast experience ever, and we bet it will be hard to beat. The fact that we've never stayed at a B&B before, I took a "huge" risk by picking a B&B as the place to go for the FIRST night of our honeymoon. But boy am I glad we did, and I could not have imagined... More

“We stayed in the first floor room, it's huge and truly gives you the best experience for couples. The shower is a double headed shower and the jacuzzi tub is fantastic. The bed is comfortable and the little deck/porch off the rooms gives you an amazing view of the lake. The great room/living room was so warm, welcoming, and gives you the true feeling of a log cabin with a fantastic view of the lake and a nice fire place to sit by.”
