We felt like we stayed with our grandmother here at King Charles! They were so kind giving us great recommendations for dinner, and greeting us with fresh snickerdoodle cookies in the evening when we came back from watching the fireworks on the beach. The room was VERY clean with fresh linens and bedspread. The porch was huge! I enjoyed reading out there in the morning. We will certainly return again!!

The cleanest hotel I've been to. Also very friendly staff and specially the owner. I will come back. I love this place. Excellent location. I have stayed in many places in Ocean City. By far this is my favorite hotel now. No problems parking and very close to the boardwalk. Very good rates

My husband & I stayed here just one night (a Saturday). The King Charles is a 3 story, wood structured building, built in the 1940's. It is obviously lovingly cared for, clean, quaint, & quiet. Pride in ownership is very apparent, & the owners/managers - a husband & wife team, are very nice! The hotel is within easy walking distance (for most people) - 1/2 block to the OC Boardwalk & hence within easy walking distance of many restaurants, bars & cafes. The hotel itself is charming, especially if you are tired of corporate owned, cookie-cutter hotel rooms with zero character. Our room was on the third floor, something that was prearranged with the owner, after my request for a quiet room location. Be aware that there are 14-15 stairs between floors & no elevator. We have no problem with that, but it may be an issue for others, especially with luggage. Our room was Spick & Span clean. There were two dbl beds, a bureau, bedside table, small closet, small refrigerator, & microwave. A built-in window A/C unit appeared new & functioned well. The beds were comfortable; pillows, not so much, but I am admittedly VERY fussy about pillows & had happily brought my own. One special feature of the hotel that I noted/appreciated was that the entry doors & doors between the different floor levels had the "soft close", door hinges, hence - no slamming doors! Another feature is coffee/tea available in the lobby basically all day, as well as fresh baked brownies in the morning. We enjoyed our stay although we thought the room was a bit overpriced (OC is VERY expensive on Fridays/Saturdays in "full season").

Average beach hotel. Nice and close to the beach. About one block to the boardwalk. Clean room. Beds were way too hard for us so we didn't sleep well at all. Otherwise a fine place to stay. No breakfast in the mornings. Offered coffee and tea in the mornings.

I waited around until the last minute
looking for hotel deals and I'm glad I did! I've never been to a bed and breakfast style hotel before so my first impression was superb! It was like visiting that special relative that we all have that makes us feel right at home when you come to town. The couple that runs it was very warm and welcoming. Their dog Smegal was the cutest thing! There is a special home baked dessert baked every night which my kids absolutely loved. The room was nice a cozy, perfect for a small family. Everything was within walking distance which is a definite plus for me because we came all the way from Baltimore. There was a pizza/sub shop right next door. And you can access your room from the back which also has a nice relaxing sitting area. This place is a hidden gem in downtown Ocean City. I will definitely come back. Very quiet and I'm thankful we were allowed to hang some wet clothes on the line to dry. So many good things to say but I encourage you to check it put for yourself.

I recently attempted to call this hotel, to rent a room for a girls weekend with 3 of my closest friends and was immediately turned away by the front desk attendant. As soon as I mentioned that I was under 21(my friends and I are 20 by the way), she quickly stated that her rooms were ONLY for families. The woman was rude and prejudged my friends and I. It is a shame that we were not even given a chance due to her own preconcieved notions.

This call was taken by me, the hotel manager, and I beg to differ with KayPee of VA. No one was rude with her on the phone nor did anyone prejudge her. We rent to groups both over and under 21. In the months of July and August the hotel is primarily occupied by families, couples, moms and daughters, groups of adult ladies, and the like. I advised her of that because the needs of many under 21 groups are different than those of families and couples. We want all of Ocean City’s visitors to enjoy the type of vacation they are looking to have. Individuals and groups under 21 may stay but require a security deposit. Our hotel’s under 21 policies are no different than any other hotel in OC. I regret that KayPee interpreted our discussion of our hotel and policies to be discriminatory.

Amazingly friendly service, we had no hotel booked for the night and they welcomed us right in. Great price for the area. Although the style is not very modern, everything was extremely clean and comfortable. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

King Charles Hotel is a great little Mom and Pop hotel. It is perfect for a quiet couple's getaway. They make it pretty clear that it is not a place for parties which was just fine with us. We had a room with a fridge, microwave, and a large private balcony which overlooked Baltimore Ave. Everything was extremely clean and comfortable and the rates were very reasonable (note this was during the off-season in Mid-May). The service was awesome; the owner lives there, manages the front desk, services the rooms, and even bakes cookies and carrot cake for her guests. The location is great, right by 12th street, 1/2 block to the boardwalk, and close to plenty of restaurants and bars.
One warning, if you get a balcony room, remember it is overlooking Baltimore Ave, so there is some noise from passing trucks and buses. This didn't bother us at all, just thought I would mention it in case you are a light sleeper.
Overall, we loved it and we will definitely be back as soon as we get the chance.

This hotel is older; however, the owners have done a great job keeping it CLEAN, which is very important. We also noticed they are strict about younger adults / teenagers staying at this location, which keeps the noise to a minimum. The beds aren't Hilton or Hampton Inn beds, but the linens are clean and the beds are just fine for a few nights stay. The bathrooms are older, but they are clean and work great. They have window air conditioning units, which didn't bother us. We stayed cool, which was all that mattered to us. The front desk workers are very nice and accommodating. Free parking is included at this hotel. If you are looking for luxury, this isn't the place. But, if you're looking for a clean, quiet place in a great location near the boardwalk in Ocean City, this is a great option.

we arrive very late in Ocean city and we go all around to find a place to spend a night. the offer in that city is very low. you can find a lot of hotels but very expencive and overrated. we were very lucky to find a room at the king charles. room was big (see photos) and clean. the owner was very nice ask her everything you need (restaurants, infos...) she was very helpful. wifi and parking available.
