My family and just returned home from a week stay at Briarwood ending October 17th. The unit was clean as one would expect. Both blinds fell out of the windows in one of the bedrooms as they were not installed correctly using anchors. In all fairness, there were a few aesthetic upgrades in the unit we were assigned to this year. I cannot speak for any unit but the one we were in, although a representative of Briarwood told me over the phone pre visit that we were being placed in a newly renovated room, so I assume not all the units are renovated. There was new carpet, and the walls looked to be fairly recently painted. There was new leather living room sofa bed and loveseat with the "real leather" tags still on them so one would realize that they were recent upgrades. There was also a 7.99 black plastic container of impatiens infront of every two units. Sadly, the most important feature of any timeshare, comfortable beds, were left off of the upgrade list. Even with the addition of the requested foam topper, my hips were bruised and I was sore upon waking every morning. In the second bedroom with the twin beds, we were forced to take the mattresses off of the box springs and place them on the floor as the old creaking bed frames would wake everyone at the slightest movement.
Every year, my family and myself have so looked forward to our stay at Briarwood. But this reticence by the Briarwood owner/management team to provide decently comfortable and clean conditions in the timeshare units disturbs me. If our fees are not being used to properly maintain the units for the timeshare owners, where is the money going?
