John and Valerie go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to hospitality. My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary in the 1920's Farm Porch room and it was cute, comfortable, and romantic. We got to feed the chickens in the morning, collect eggs, pet the rabbits, and they even have a fun scavenger hunt...

Thank you for the review. You two were awesome guests and we truly enjoyed your stay here. Somewhat modest about my culinary creations, I'm pretty sure I haven't blushed as much prior to your stay, your delight in the food served to you was truly pleasing. You are right in that we can be a destination all by ourselves, as...

Our hosts, John and Valerie, were very welcoming and happy to show us around the property and home. We stayed in the In-Port Cabin Room which is a good size room and includes a nice sitting area overlooking the back yard. We enjoyed the path through the woods and all of the little surprises along the way. There is also...

Thank you for reviewing Amanda's Bequest. Reviews like yours give others a good idea of what a stay is like here. So pleased you enjoyed our geocache and the Woodland trail with all of its delightful discoveries. And so glad you enjoyed the conversations at breakfast. They can be so entertaining!

We really enjoyed our time at Amanda's. We were treated as family and the room was very lovely. In the morning before breakfast, we enjoyed a nice walk through the woods and had fun looking for the unusual objects along the trail. Breakfast was excellent, accompanied by enjoying records on the Victorola.

And we really enjoyed your stay! Thanks for doing a review. The Woodland trail has become quite popular. Did you know we keep the trail groomed in the winter and provide skis and snowshoes? We loved that you enjoyed the 1915 Victrola so much. We have over 100 records for it.

We had a fantastic time! Our 11 year old had some great farm firsts including feeding the chickens & ducks and collecting their eggs. Valerie and John were very wonderful in responding to all of his curiosities. It was a relaxing family get-away. We will definitely return!

While we are careful to match family stays with other family stays, children do deeply enjoy their stay here. There are so many interesting things for them to explore. Just know that we accept children on a screened basis. i.e. if there is a couple who've noted that this is a get away from their children to be a couple,...

The bed was comfortable, the breakfast was excellent, and the atmosphere was great. My wife and I had the room with the jacuzzi, which was very relaxing after a long drive. We were treated like family and welcomed into their home.

Valerie and John are exceptional hosts!!! Stayed in the Inn-Port Cabin Room, room was spacious, clean and had a great nights sleep. Breakfast was amazing! The three of us took a soft cheese (mozzarella) and doughnut making class during our stay. Classes were hands-on and very informative. We had a great time! Her pickled asparagus and jams are out of...

Property was lovely; fresh chickens for fresh eggs in the morning. Valerie and John were hospitable and friendly. We had to leave early to pick our kids up at camp and they woke early to make us an early breakfast. So delicious!!! Better than any restaurant. Fresh and wholesome cooking. I'd recommend to anyone to stay. We cannot wait to...

We had a great time! Our daughter was attending Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, which is less than 5 miles away. She had to arrive early, so Valerie packed us three to-go breakfast bags with lots of healthy items. The breakfast sandwiches were DELICIOUS! The first morning, we did enjoy a wonderful breakfast in their dining room with some very...

We had a lovely time at Amanda's Bequest - Valerie and John couldn't have been more gracious hosts, and Valerie's breakfast was amazing - french toast with homemade bread, homemade jams, a bread pudding with cream, a perfect poached egg fresh from chickens on the property. Wow. Lots of history, fun stay, highly recommended.

My husband and I are not typically B&B people. It stretches my comfort zone. Amanda's Bequest had me at ease from first look. It is a beautiful farm house on a quiet road. Simple gardens greet upon arrival. We had late/self check in so there was no formal greeting upon our arrival. We were lucky and Valerie was in the...
