Making the most of the beautiful vistas, the Fish River Lodge has been built in harmony with its stark, striking surroundings. Completed in 2009, all the buildings that make up the lodge pay tribute to the amazing landscape, offering spectacular views of the Fish River Canyon from sunrise to sunset. The architecture and interiors of Fish River Lodge have taken their queue from the rugged landscape that surround it. Contemporary, and at times monastic, the lodge was designed to reflect the unique beauty of its location.

One word: amazing!!! The view is extraordinary on all places. The rimwalk and sundowner are both recommended. The food was good and friendly personnel. The open air shower is also a great experience. It is a long road to get there, but I would book it again.

This place; location and hotel was high on my list and it didn't disappoint, as you arrive and walk into the main building and get a glimpse of the view into the canyon, just WOW! The whole place is very well designed, better than the photo's and we loved it. The restaurant/bar area is really nice and led to communal chats with others over a drink which was great and the food was also very good. The place has a nice pool (with the view) but only 4 sunbeds for lying down, rest are more deckchair like so that was a bit disappointing as if you wanted to lie by the pool not guaranteed. We took the full day trip to the bottom of the canyon, where you can go swimming (amazing!) and had a lovely lunch, that trip was a 7.30am-3.30pm so a longish day but well worth it to make the most of a fleeting visit (we stayed just 2 nights - could have done 3 here easily). Room was really nice (see pics), large bathroom area and inside & outside shower. It was really windy at night - hotel gave us earplugs! but I'd take your own as found the foam ones rubbish, ended up trying to sleep in my airpods to cancel the howling winds! Highly recommended.…

Wonderful hotel and real experience of Fish Rover Canyon… Stayed here for two nights in early October. The hotel / lodge is modern, well equipped with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The rooms were spacious, luxurious and cosy. The outdoor shower was good but chilly with the evening wind. But just love indoors and relax. Water conservation taken seriously (well done) with a bucket to save water whilst getting the shower water warm. Everything else - from the food to the tour down to the Fish River floor, to the food and wine was excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to go back one day.

This lodge is the most remote and unique place I have stayed at. It is located on the rim of the canyon with exceptional views all around. It is a long drive to get there but well worth it. The food is delicious and the decor modern and wonderful. We did the half day hike into the canyon which was very strenuous! Good hiking boots are required and some hiking fitness. It is an exceptional experience. We also did the sunset drive which was amazing too. Willem is a professional, warm and interesting guide. What an asset he is. Highly recommend this place!

The location is stunning, just on the rim of the canyon, so the view from the chalet is simply fantastic! Our chalet was very nice and comfortable, with enough space for luggage. Bathroom was wide. Both breakfast and dinner were very good and the same was for afternoon tea. The staff is kind, on our second night they put a hot water bottle in our bed because the weather turned colder. We had the day drive into the canyon – we booked two nights at this lodge several months in advance just to be sure to have it – and it was a beautiful experience, included a good lunch on the river, it was just a pity that the other guests on our drive could barely speak English.

Stayed here for 3 nights, and after a lengthy journey down from Sossusvlei, we were pleasantly greeted by the welcoming staff and stunning location. Website states the journey in requires a decent vehicle so no surprises there. Lodges right at the edge of the canyon offer stunning views and the design made the most of this. Being winter it was cold at night and in the morning, but my wife particularly appreciated the hot water bottle. Food is a 3 course set menu but was the best we'd had during our 3 week road trip. Went on some of the trips and the guides are all professional and friendly. Special mention to Justice and Gordon for the excellent trips into the canyon. A minor criticism. Wifi should be unlimited and not charged after using 500 Mb given the lodge is marketed as a premium destination…

Ideally situated, very comfortable cottages, excellent food and excellent service. We did the excursion into the canyon with a very competent guide. Many animals with ostriches, springbok, zebras, oryxes, to name the largest. Absolutely recommendable.

Wonderful lodge on the edge of the stunning Fish River Canyon - spent 2 nights here and wish we were staying longer. Room was excellent right on the edge of the canyon with an outside seating area looking across it - food some of the best we had in Namibia - amazing considering how remote the location is. The staff were so so friendly and we took the excursion to the bottom of the canyon with our guide Wilhelm where we saw many animals and had a great barbecue lunch after a quick dip in the pools down there. Only drawback was the large party of Chinese who followed us down in 3 separate vehicles and then proceed to fly a drone in the gorge - really??? Luckily no drones were allowed around the actual lodge - so sad we need notices about this now. All in all a wonderful experience.…
