Our 4 night tour stay was a pleasant surprise. We checked in with a full tour bus tour, taking up the entire hotel room space. Hotel staff had our keys ready and waiting. There is a small elevator to the 4th floor, but you are on for a climb if your on if your room is on the 5th. Hallways are a bit dark to use your room key 🔑 to open your door on the 5th floor, so use your phone light to help this process. The morning breakfast was served at 0700 with a B+ spread of French favorites and coffee ☕️. Rooms are cleaned and restocked daily. Our shower was meant for a small size traveler (<5’) with limited hot water, so time your shower 🚿 to maximize the amount of hot water 💦 you think is appropriate for your bathing comfort. Rooms are a bit thin on the 5th floor, as this level most likely was a C- conversion that added additional rental rooms...speak softly when in the toilet 🚽, your neighbors can hear 👂 your conversation. Beds 🛌 are okay and the room temp is managed during the warmer months by how wide you open the windows, so be careful of possible creepy crawlers first thing in the mornings, but any day and any stay. If you need space for your luggage 🧳 you will need to be a creative and flexible thinker, but it’s doable..just do not invite any friends over to chat. The hotel neighbors have a lovely dog 🐕 and a yard Romba lawnmower, which are both whisper quiet and are a yoga like pleasure to watch in the mornings.
Outlets in the rooms worked well to recharge all of our American must have devices, but BYOC Bring Your On Converter for power. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk off of the main town roundabout where many restaurants take up shop, but the language is most definitely French and the restaurant fare will not disappoint if your able to break the language code...those who took French in high school it now time to earn your keep😊. Back to the hotel comments...the single staffer who checked you in is the everything lady from 0700-2200, when she closes the bar and sets the desk alarm for the traveler who wanders behind the checkin desk in her absence. She gets an A from me for the 0700 smile to the 2200 goodnight 🌙..WELL DONE!
Overall the pictures on the travel page are a close resemblance of what you might find, but those pics are not the 5th floor rooms🙁. We had a pleasant stay and wouldn’t hesitate stopping by again for a few nights.

I hope this helps a few travelers 🧳!

a clean and pleasant hotel with friendly staff and fair sized rooms. breakfast was included in our stay and the staff ensure you are never without coffee, croissants etc. free parking is provided and there is no 'curfew' to come in whenever you want. the bar shut a little earlier than we would have liked (2230) which although not a major aspect of the hotel, we found ourselves getting back quite late from exploring normandy so a nice glass of 'vin rouge' would have been great when we got in! i would say this hotel is great for 1 or 2 nights but no more and mainly if you are interested in going to mont st michel. the other main places of interest are bit of a drive away so you are not really in the heart of things here. we felt it was a bit pricey for what we got and from what else was on offer in the area(75 euros per night which was suppsed to be a cheao deal but is actually the advertised price). our shower flooded on the first day which seemed to be a design flaw-if you aim it towards the wall and not on max power its fine!!. all in all not a bad little hotel.

We biked through this town and decided to spend the night, but there is little reason to stay in this small town. Yes, there is a tank from WW2, but not much else. The hotel is new and staff friendly. The breakfast was disappointing with the basics of cheese and bread. Room was average in size and the wifi was free and ok.

I booked the hotel half and hour before arriving whilst i was at Mont St Michel. Upon arriving i met the owner and told him and his staff that there might be a mistake as I made a double booking. Instead of recognising the mistake, they took the opportunity to blame me for accidentally pressing twice and said it was a confirm booking and no refunds will be given. Having called the booking agent, they said the owner refused to give a refund. This was not a case where i held a room booking for months and did not allow it to be booked by others. It was at 1130pm and I arrived no more than 40 mins later. On top of that, the room they gave me smelled like some drunk patron had taken a piss on the carpet and vommited in the room. Having riden a motorbike the whole day, I did not have a good nights sleep and had to open the window to air the foul smelling room. I have stayed in many hotels in the world and i can clearly say this was by far the worst experience i have ever had.

We stayed here one night on our way to Mont-St.-Michel. We arrived in town about an hour before checking in because we got lost and couldn't find the hotel. The driving instructions and map we found on the Internet for this hotel were really poor. The hotel is very unmemorable. Nothing distinctive to recommend it - looks like a chain operation - very ordinary and, in fact, a touch on the rundown side. It's clean, but there are set-in stains on the carpet and the wallpaper is peeling, at places along on the walls. It was raining and cold while we were there and we couldn't get the radiator to work - despite instructions from the desk clerk. So we froze that night. On the plus side - the restaurant directly next door to the hotel (there's an entrance through the lobby), was exceptional. The night we ate there, it was extremely crowded by locals, not tourists. We were the only English-speaking people there. The food was superb - the best meal I ate in 10 days spent in France. And very reasonably priced.

We stayed here the night before going to Mont St. Michele. The lobby looks really contempory but when you get to your room it's scary. Very dirty. We checked the beds for bugs...didn't see anything but the whole night I wondered. The carpet had all sorts of stains and the bathroom was horrible. I almost took a shower with socks on it was so bad. The shower head wasn't attached to the wall so my husband had to hold it up while I washed out my hair. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. The did have a breakfast that was comparable with most of the places we've stayed so I'd say that was a plus but seriously wouldn't stay there again for the life of me. Would rather sleep in the car.

The room smelled like B.O. we had to go to the store and bought a fan and a candle. Even the room service people know it smells they leave the window open.
The pictures are photo shopped! We stayed here only because of how close it is to St. Michel which is about 30 minutes away. Other hotels are much closer and look better!

Visiting Mont-Saint-Michel, decided to stay in Avranches and picked Altos based on internet pictures and information.
On arrival, 13h00, hotel was closed. A sign said we should call a number, which we did. It said service only started at 15h00. Weird... Why is an hotel closed at 13h00 on a Saturday? Lack of customers or absence of service?
Concerned, we came back at 15h00. Inside, things did not look as we expected and we decided not to stay. We asked for a cancellation which was not accepted. Nevertheless, we decided we would rather lose the money than stay there. A curiosity: nobody asked us why we wanted to cancel. Almost as if it was usual behaviour.
Strong suggestion: if you choose to stay at Altos, pick a rate that allows for cancellation; Then you will be able to leave if you find things do not look good.
In the end, we stayed in Rennes, Novotel Gare. Cheaper... and clean.
While waiting for Altos to open we had lunch at Hotel Patton. I recommend it - nice, friendly and good food.

When we booked this hotel, the pictures online looked decent so we thought we would give it a try, as we made our reservation a bit last minute. Once we had checked in, we went back downstairs to the concierge to see whether we would get our money back, as we no longer wanted to stay there. Of course, he said that was not possible, so we had to stay in the room for the night.

It was disgusting!!! I think we were in one of the rooms that hadn't been renovated yet... dirty carpet, awful walls... the sheets at least looked clean, but it took some convincing to get into them at night. The bathroom was the worst! No shower head holder, and the hose was mouldy and disgusting! The tiles were dirty, everything looked very shabby and run down. The toilet smelled gross as well.. We left by 8 am the next day as we couldn't wait to get out of there already.

Terrible, terrible hotel - don't stay here. In hindsight, we should have gone to stay elsewhere that night, but we would have lost the 140 euros we had already paid.

Hello, the hotel ensures a hygienic absolutely faultless, told 2 Women Chamber extremely dedicated and courageous. Your comment loses credibility by questioning the results of their difficult work , especially recognized by our regulars customers. Reception and Staff thank them here for their efforts and their dedication. The chamber 15 that you were 3 adults, is a family room for 4 people, with a very special decoration, psychedelic style 70 years, very popular with children and adolescents. Picture is presented on the internet, but we regret that you did not appreciate. It is also planned to replace the carpet in this room next winter, following a regular renewal cycle of 5 years. It has a look and a normal level of wear for this time, but it is well maintained and very clean. To satisfy you after your arrival, we have proposed two bedrooms, (2 + 1 guests) at the same rate. You refused this proposal to your advantage because you prefer rather get money compensation. ALTOS hotel meets all its commitments, but can not give in to unfounded claims, under threat of abusive comments. Best regards. Cedric, Receptionist and Staff.

The best USP of this hotel is the short distance (15 km) to Mont St. Michel. It is OK for a 1 night stop or short stay. It offers fair quaity for money. Breakfast a little below average. Entering the hotel after reception hours is slighty awkward in the dark. Staff friendly but distant.
