AVOID THIS PLACE, its silly, 26 euro for a thin slice of pate, 26 euro for uncooked tart tatin, and , my Tubot was uncooked solid mass, sent back and returned looking like dog vomit, the sauce had congealed. I did not dine and had to watch my wife eat a very good steak, little else on the plate ,...

The hotel is extremely convenient and very peaceful, both ideal for overnight stops en route to other parts of France or Germany and beyond. Our room in the converted barn was clean, comfortable and surprisingly cool given the heat of the day. The views from the room were of green fields and forest. The evening dinner menu is limited given...

We have been using L'Oree du Bois as a stop off for trips to Northern France, Germany and Switzerland for over ten years. We have finally lost patience with the ridiculous and unseemly charges that spoil a very good hotel. The good points are the supremely quiet and relaxing forest setting, the well furnished but simple rooms with excellent showers...

The hotel is in the countryside which gives it a relaxing location but not difficult to locate off the major roads. Facilities are fine & it makes for a good stop over or a place to stay while visiting the various WW1 memorials & battlefields around Verdun -a moving experience & one that needs a little advance planning. However, the...

The rooms and food at this country hotel are amazingly good. We stayed here because we wanted to visit the WWI sites and sights around Verdun and it was superbly situated for this. The hotel is in a wonderful country setting but is close to Verdun. On the way to Verdun you can see the American Memorial and Cemetery, and...

My husband and I stayed at A l'Oree du Bois for three evenings. The room was clean and beautifully designed with a large shower and bathtub. The service was excellent and the family run business offered us a quiet, relaxing and restful stay. The food was outstanding with incredibly prepared options by master chef Aguesse as well as wonderfully fresh...

We picked this hotel as it was a reasonable first night stopover from the UK. M. and Mme Aguesse work hard to make this a very agreeable small hotel. He is a Maitre Cuisinier de France and the food is outstanding. The rooms don't look very impressive from the outside but contain a very ingenious bathroom setup. Not a cheap...

Good accommodation and dining in this large area of France between Champagne and Moselle is very hard to come by, and sadly l'Oree du Bois does not raise the standard. The hotel is nicely situated in the countryside, but in most countries it would rank as a two star motel with an over rated dining room. Eating in the restaurant...

This was my third stay and it was superb as usual. This wonderful hideaway is ideally located for tripping around or just relaxing. This family owned hotel is well appointed and continuing to undergo renovation and development. The cuisine is everything you would expect from a master chef and the wine selection is extraordinary. It is worth coming from the...

We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel, whilst en route to Switzerland. The surroundings are perfect for a peaceful night's sleep, as the hotel is in an isolated position, set back from a quiet road, and close to woodland. The hotel has an elegant 'hunting lodge' look and feel, full of 'olde worlde' charm. The room was spacious,...
