We travel here at least once every year and it is one of the best campgrounds we have found in the U.P., each campsite has a path that leads to the lake and a view of the lake. Rustic pump for water, picnic tables, fire ring and vault toilets. The dirt road to the campground can be accessed by any... More

Great campsites on the Lake. First come, first serve. Hiking, fishing, star gazing all with the sound of the surf wafting in the background. Beach access was excellent and its never crowded. Great place for rock hounds and outdoor recreation

Simple the best place we've ever camped with our car. It's rustic. Very rustic. You pump your own water, you're miles of washboard dirt road away from anything resembling a store. The one gas station in Grand Marais (a town 15 miles away) was out of gas when we visited, and nobody seemed too worried about it. There are no... More

Had a great stay here memorial day weekend. Stayed Sunday and Monday the campground cleared out monday morning. You are only one small dune away from the beach. Beautiful sunsets. Way too cold for swimming in may.Highly recommended.

My husband and I just spent 3 nights at Lake Superior State Forest Campground...from Sept. 8th to the 11th. We were lucky to get the last spot when we checked in at noon. It is an 18 site campground right on Lake Superior. Although, you do have to travel an unpaved road to get there it is well worth the... More

We were very lucky to find a camp site at the Lake Superior Campground. There are less than 20 sites available for camping and they are first come, first serve and go quickly so get their early to secure yours. The beach was perfect and the sunrises and sunsets are simply breathtaking. This is not your typical Michigan state park... More

We stayed in Lake Superior State Forest Campground just outside of Grand Marais and it was fun. We loved the access to the beach from the campground and the little fun stuff to do is great in town. The Pickle House and Brewery added to the coziness of the experience. The fog was thick and it was raining one day... More
