Property's Favourite Review
Only recently, I was in discussion with friends about the unfortunate decline in customer services within the hospitality trade. Thankfully, the Commercial Hotel, bucks this trend and demonstrates just how it should be done. Despite suffering the same issues as regards staff shortages and unforseen delivery /stock issues, it was heartwarming to receive a warm welcome and benefit from staff that were friendly, engaging, courteous and professional. Thank you to all staff at the 'Commercial'. My evening meal was truly fabulous. Piping hot, incredibly tasty and a full plate that would satisfy anyone's needs. Tables were well spaced to provide privacy but still provided a warm and relaxing atmosphere. One of the best meals I've had in a long time. The hotel is ideally placed for those on a leisure break and there is a convenience store on the other side of the road. In addition there are ample private car parking facilities. I would highly recommend the Commercial .

I thoroughly recommend The Commercial Hotel in Tarland and have stayed there 3 times in the last month, either with my wife or on my own. It is a Deeside country hotel, not a resort. It doesn’t have a swimming pool but it has parking, an area to sit outside when it’s warm enough, a public bar and a restaurant. Its range of food is surprising. Everything I have had is delicious and in generous quantities. I recommend the beef and Guinness pie and sticky toffee pudding - both found in hotels all over the northeast but really excellent in Tarland. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped - good pressure in the showers, large towels, plenty of hot water. And you will be warm. The breakfast is equally good - both a cold buffet and a choice of cooked dishes. It’s efficient and friendly and has parking at the back. Excellent place.

The food had great selection of gluten free options , was delicious and the portion size was satiating . Very , very good value for less money than neighbouring local establishments . We had roast pork with roast potatoes and separate plate of vegetables. Sticky toffee pudding and crumble .

Stayed two nights in early August 2023. Very comfortable and clean room. Excellent evening meals, and very good breakfast. Ample parking. Staff generally very approachable and friendly. No-one around when we checked out which was a pity as we wanted to mention that thermostat valve had fallen off our bathroom radiator! Hadn't adjusted radiator, but just noticed on last morning that it was on the floor!! Certainly recommend The Commercial.

We have just had a lovely couple of nights at the Commercial hotel in Tarland - it was our first visit and we will most definitely return So many good things about this hotel, firstly I’ve got to say the food is absolutely fabulous! A huge plate with all home cooked fresh food, it was difficult to choose what we wanted as it was all so good. I can personally recommend the vegetarian shepherds pie, the steak pie, the schnitzel and the linguini - I think one of the best pub meals experience I’ve had, hats off to the chef! Then I must mention the customer service, really excellent, so friendly with a lot of good humoured banter ☺️The bar lady in particular was fabulously attentive and Mo who is on at breakfast time is a hoot and is really attentive and friendly, the breakfast is lovely too. The rooms are really clean and the bed (and pillows) as comfortable as anything Would really recommend this place, you would not be disappointed Thanks to all the staff for a memorable stay xx

Can't recommend the lovely Commercial hotel in Tarland enough. A group of 8 girls had an overnight stay on a golf trip to Aboyne and the hotel and the staff were just perfect. The rooms are very comfortable, well equipped and exceptionally clean with lovely ensuite bathrooms. Bev the Manager of the hotel looked after us so well and provided a lovely meal for us and a fabulous breakfast the next again morning. The staff in the restaurant and the bar can't do enough for you and made us all feel so welcome. They also have a couple of holiday lets which Bev let us view and they are just fabulous. There is Private parking at the rear of the hotel and it's situated in a lovely little village with a convenience store across the road. You wont be disappointed.

We had a lovely pub lunch at the Commercial Hotel. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Plenty of choice on the menu including a number of vegetarians options. Generous portions of food so we left feeling very well fed! Well worth driving a little further afield from Aboyne to visit

Enjoyed one of the best meals we’ve had during our four week tour of Scotland. Food excellent, service excellent, staff excellent. The bar was dog friendly so we ate there but they have a very nice restaurant and the back for those who don’t have a dog.
