We stayed here for a night as we drove around the countryside north of Auckland. We had a room with adjacent toilet and bathroom and a whole shared sitting and dining area/kitchen. Way more than we expected and it is decorated in such a way as to make you feel right at home--very lived in. Debbie add that additional hostess...

Thank you! And just to let you know I walked around the Maori pa site two days ago and was accompanied most of the way by a fantail. Possibly a relative of the one flying around my sitting room now! Have a good Christmas and take care Deb

Beautiful old building with a gracious and welcoming host, Deb. Our room was small but pretty with adjacent toilet and shower room. The lavender sachets under the pillows were a lovely touch, as was the lavender soap. The continental breakfast included cereal, fresh fruit and homemade bread. Gluten free options were available on request. Special thanks to Deb for directions...

There is not much to the town of Paparoa but it is a good overnight stop when going around Northland. The Post Office was just that so one should expect it to be quirky We had the Post Master's room and since there was no one else there we had the rest of the place to ourselves. The bed was...

Hi, so glad you got home safe. The post office is quirky and most people love the posies of heritage flowers in old bottles or jars that have been dug up from the garden! The bedroom is not huge, although some guests use the hall ( as it is only for the guest) to store extra baggage. The bathroom is...

My wife & I stayed here overnight. The old Post Office in this sleepy little town has been attractively & thoughtfully converted to provide very comfortable accommodation. Deb, our friendly and helpful host, is a very talented cook. Both we, and the other guests all thoroughly enjoyed the fruits of this skill both at dinner and for the sumptuous breakfast....

My two friends and stayed overnight at the Old Post Office in Paparoa after a long day's cycling from Auckland. We were warmly received by the host Deb who made us feel welcome and at home. The guest house has been carefully renovated and has a lot of old world charm that made us feel that we were in quite...

On our way home South from 10 days in Northland we came upon The Old Post Office Guest House. Situated in a sleepy little town we were delighted to find there was one double room left in this charming spot. Not an en suite, but we had our own private bathroom so that was no problem. Beautifully furnished and set...

We had such a wonderful stay in the Old Office. Deb is a charming host and she knows a lot about the old office. We had the blue room in the old office, charming and plenty of character, very nicely decorated. Very confortable bed, and we loved the homemade soap that we took with us. We were so pleased we chose the Old Post Office! Deb was the best hostess and went out of her way to feed us as we had arrive on an Auckland holiday and all the dining places nearby were closed. Her home cooked meal was so good! Thanks Deb. The Post Office is charming and we had a great evening...

Hi, thank you for your review! I am so glad that you did enjoy your stay, and it was no trouble at all to cook something for you. I have been given some more heritage roses (much to Kevin's disgust) so hopefully the garden will be even prettier next spring. Take care and I hope your summer is good. Cheers,...

An historic old kauri post office, circa 1903. Enjoy the charm of old NZ, watch native kereru (wood pigeon) from the deck while you breakfast on home grown fruit and homemade muesli, preserves and toast. The rooms range from the OLd Postmaster's suite with its own street entrance and bathroom right next to the bedroom and the ability to close it off from the rest of the BnB to the double Garden room opening onto the rear garden or the simply pretty yellow cream single room.Borrow the kayaks and paddle the local river from The Landing, or stroll around some of the scenic walks. 5 Kms from the famous Matakohe kauri museum. Play golf on a local 9 hole course, arrange a tour around the local olive grove or fish from the Pahi wharf. Organise a fishing trip and return to a tasty home cooked dinner. The Cruiser bar and grille is only a 5 minute walk away and the local pub is noted for its friendliness, local colour and bar meals! ... more   less
