My sister and I wanted to stay at a reasonably priced place close to BWCAW. Shagawa Inn Resort fit perfectly. We stayed in motel 3 and it was very clean, simple, and just what we needed. We faced lake, which is beautiful. Owner was very friendly. This place is a throwback to the 50s or 60s. If you are fussy... More

This was our 4th visit in a row to Ely for Labor Day weekend, but our first time here. We stayed in a side by side cabin/motel unit. Microwave, small 'fridge, toaster, and small TV. Cost was $90 a night, and I thought that was fine. There's much more expensive places around there. We had a shared fire ring and... More

We made reservations at this resort several months ago. We needed a campsite and a family member needed a cabin/motel unit. We are used to camping in the BWCA and were a little concerned about staying somewhere more crowded. We were pleasantly surprised. Our campsite was once a double campsite but they made it into one. The motel unity (#3)... More

I started staying at Shagawa Inn ten years ago because my parents said we just had to see it once. I have been going back every year since. Sometimes more than once. I love the fact it is right on the lake, and so close to town. My cabin of choice is Pier cabin. Three bedroom with a fireplace and... More

We just returned yesterday from our 16th year at Shagawa Inn Resort. Thanks to Jim and Chris for another great week staying in Moose cabin. My husband and I come here to fish and that's what this resort is all about. The cabins are very, very clean and comfortable, with excellent heat for chilly nights and window air for hot... More

We stayed here in July while visiting the BWCA. The location was nice - right on the lake! We were able to take advantage of their canoes during an evening paddle which was great! The "cabin" we stayed in was small but very, very clean! I think the owner should think about new beds and especially new blankets - they... More

I stayed in the Point Cabin up on the hill at Shagawa Inn Resort for a week while my husband was in the Boundary Waters on a fishing trip. My husband also spent Labor Day weekend with me in the cabin. The cabin is large and comfortable. The kitchen has recently been remodeled and it is first-rate; it is well-supplied... More

I would not by any means consider this a resort. It's really a 50's era motel that has not been updated since that time. We stayed in the cabin motel, which meant that we got a tiny room right on the lake. And nothing else. I would call this a campground, since it was more that than anything else, but... More

We had a "hotel" room which is kind of a cabin duplex. The room was quite small, but I did like the knotty pine walls, which is something that attracted me on the website. No bathtub; only a shower. The wall A/C unit was basically unusable because it was unbearably loud and old and inefficient. But luckily, it wasn't really... More

We just got back from our annual fishing trip last week. We stayed at the Shagawa Inn Resort as usual for the last 20 yrs. We had one of the best fishing weeks that we had in a long while. The walleye were biting and we caught our limit each day. The other fish were biting also, bass and perch. We... More
