Absolutely flawless and charming little B&B in a former farmhouse located in the village of Little Downham, Cambridgeshire. The upstairs room we stayed in was very generously proportioned and has plenty of charm and character. Breakfast each morning is served in the main living area and features a good selection of cereals, fruit, juice and yoghurt, plus the option of selecting from a range of fully cooked ingredients for the full English breakfast experience. An unexpected surprise were the 'bonus' breakfast menu options each morning such as the waffles and salmon. Emma was warm and welcoming and helped us with things to do in the immediate area and offered suggestions for places to eat during the evening. Little Downham has a very good pub only a few steps up the road from Bury House, and the larger town of Ely is only a 2 minute drive away offering plenty of dining options and services. We're delighted to have found this hidden gem and couldn't have possibly asked for more during our 3 night stay at Bury House.…
Bury House is in a lovely peaceful location, but not far from Ely. The beautiful bedroom was really quiet, spacious and comfortable (but beware the low beams if you are tall!) Plenty of full-size toiletries, which were really useful especially as we were cycle touring so needed to keep the packing to a minimum. Very secure cycle storage - can strongly recommend to other cyclists. Amazing breakfasts - best we have ever had. Emma was a lovely welcoming host. We hope to be back before too long! Two lovely pubs within walking distance - both very different, but both do excellent food.
We had such a lovely warm welcome from Emma. She also very kindly offered us a lift into Ely to attend a wedding at the Cathedral, and supplied details for our return by taxi. The breakfast were delicious and very generous, served in the beautiful dining hall. The bedroom and bathroom provided everything one would need, but may have forgotten to bring from home - lots of very thoughtful touches. Also very good value for money, so I would thoroughly recommend staying in this lovely house.
Beautiful house, lovely room and so thoughtfully equipped. But best of all we felt so welcome despite somewhat anti social hours with my daughter's horse event. The packed breakfast was an inspiration!
I have been visiting this lovely village for 14 yrs but first time I’ve stayed over in the village itself. We stayed while we visited our teenage grandson for a weekend. The house is old and quirky as you expect from a listed building. It has been tastefully and lovingly restored and offers old wooden beams and spacious accommodations. Breakfast is first class and home made by a lovely lady who takes pride in the service she offers. She is friendly and helpful and provides a level of service many don’t for a sensible price. The house and facilities are impeccably clean. Great location for Ely cathedral and the nearby leisure village offers a good eating, cinema and swimming facilities. I will definitely stay again when I can rather than do 9hr round trip to collect my grandson staying here is easier on everyone.…
