Had a really enjoyable 4 nights here and would readily visit again. We had a 6 berth lodge. Decor was semi baronial, semi scando. I could not fault it in any regard. Hot tub was lovely, glad we went for the covered porch, quite satisfying to have the odd raindrop land on you when slowly broiling in the 40c jets. Kitchen was well fitted out, because of covid we did not eat out as much as we would normally have. The family had a great time. Not the cheapest, but worth it.
I booked a 4 bed log cabin for my partners birthday, we only needed a 2 bed but wanted the space and it was BEAUTIFUL. The cabin was so clean and warm, the hot tub was just amazing and the staff were lovely and helpful. The signal was non existent but that's exactly what we wanted. There is wifi if you really needed it but we didn't. The TV is a great size and with freeview. There was a small bottle of milk in the fridge along with a couple of tea bags, sugar and coffee sachets which we weren't expecting and dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. The shower water wasn't as hot as it could have been but it wasn't unbearable or enough to complain about it, there was complimentary shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and soap in the bathroom too. The cabin hand book outlines things to do and see in the area which is great as we weren't 100% sure what else there was other than Alton Towers, which is only 20 mins away! There's a good few walking trails too! If we could have stayed longer than the 3 nights we booked we would have done. It was a perfect stay in amongst beautiful scenery.…
stayed in a 4 birth pod only to find the pull out bed is only a single and not big enough for 2 people. kettle was filthy and broken, advised this would be changed yet it wasn't. There was a hygiene rapper stuck to the bathroom wall behind the door. I advised my daughter was in a wheelchair yet the pod they put us in was at the bottom on a muddy hill making it difficult with her wheelchair. I went to reception to inform them of our problems and was not offered any apologies just the stay saying 'right, right'. very disappointed We did find the rest of the park beautiful and peaceful just wish the staff were more helpful
We've just come back from 8 nights at quarry walk. We initially booked a 7 night break over half term so we could go to scarefest but the ridiculous corona-related restrictions meant we had to book an additional night so we weren't breaking any rules. They put us up in a bluebell glamping pod for this additional first night before we moved into our squirrel lodge for the remaining 7 night stay. The fact they were able and willing to accommodate us for this additional night at extremely short notice is fantastic and for me represents a high standard of customer service. We got what I would consider a good rate on the pod for this extra night and they allowed us a late check out and subsequent early check in to our 'main' accomodation. Ultimately if we couldn't make it for this one extra night, our postcode would have been moved into tier 3 on the day of travel and they would likely have had to refund us so clearly in their interests to accommodate us; at the same time they really did go over and above to ensure we were comfortable and happy with this last minute amendment. The pod was very small and basic and was a real struggle to be honest with a 6 year old and 2 month old baby. I'm glad it was only the one night, however if we were traveling as a couple, it would have been perfect for longer. Everything you need, nice and clean, just not a great deal of space. We stayed at quarry walk in 2016 and booked a 'badger plus' cabin (number 31 if I recall) and we have really fond memories of the experience. Luxurious fixtures and fittings, high-tech state of the art covered hot tub and a TV in every room essentially. This is not the case in a squirrel log cabin as we discovered on our latest visit. We had an exposed hot tub (as described so can't complain too much) however it looked like it was state of the art in 1996. It had cracks in it and a very basic single warm white light. Hardly any jets were present and one was actually floating around in the bottom of it when we first got in. The cabin itself had lots of minor issues that we didn't bother mentioning as none of them were deal breakers per se, they just all added up to a somewhat underwhelming experience after what we remembered from the previous visit. Badly fitting internal doors, bath panel hanging off, all the winders on the windows were missing or damaged, kitchen sink missing an aerator so water sprayed everywhere when using the tap, heating that seemed to be either on full tilt (so like a sauna) or off completely (like a fridge). We had a bulb that needed replacing in the main living area which I mentioned when we paid to have the hot tub drained and refilled as it seemed to get grotty fairly quickly. The bulb was replaced quickly and efficiently, likewise the draining/refilling of the hot tub so again, happy with the service we received overall. The park is in a lovely setting really out in the sticks and only 10 minutes away from Alton Towers. We went there 4 times over the course of the week to make the most of scarefest and it was brilliant. The playground area is quaint and we had a couple of woodland walks around the park, the shop is fine and everyone we dealt with was friendly and polite. I can't really complain about anything and we did have a brilliant holiday, we just had really high expectations after the previous trip so we couldn't help feeling somewhat disappointed with the finish around our cabin (number 43). The hot tub was certainly 'hot' though and really helped to soothe tired legs after walking miles around a theme park. The park was beautiful, just how we remembered it and we will definitely come back in the future and would 100% recommend. We will definitely be paying for a higher spec cabin next time however as it really isn't worth the saving if you are staying the full week or longer.…
Stayed in a glamping pod for 2 nights due to trip to Alton Towers, wish we’d stayed for longer as there’s lots of nature walks to be done around the park! This pod was so clean had a kitchenette, bathroom and everything provided for us including washing up liquid, cutlery, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle minus towels for using shower which we did not expect. Such a good distance from Alton towers. Did not see staff apart from a cleaner going about ( as boyfriend handled picking keys up ) but when contacted staff via phone/email they were so friendly! When dropping keys off posted through a letterbox due to covid. Felt so safe due to everything going on at the minute as we read pods are all sanitised before use & saw nobody going around. Glamping pods set in woods so very autumnal vibe with leaves falling around/lots of trees. Plenty car spaces and overall a very good stay at a bargain/gem of a find!! Will be back…
