We have just returned from a fabulous 4 night break. We stayed in the Stone Croft Lodge. Our dog came too! Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The position is stunning. Quiet and secluded. We particularly enjoyed taking the dog for a walk in the private woodlands. We were lucky enough to have amazing weather and was able to use the lovely veranda frequently. Either for that first cup of tea in the morning or watching the sun go down with a glass of wine! We wasted a lot of time just watching the butterflies on the buddleia! The veranda was fully secure so we felt happy leaving the dog sun bathing out there. The lodge itself had everything we needed. The kitchen is well equipped and the complimentary welcome tray and cake was a nice surprise. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept very well. It was so quiet. The lounge feels a bit sparse but had everything we needed. TV worked well. Internet could sometimes be a bit slow but always worked in the end. The lodge is a bit dated. The bathroom could do with redecorating. However it was spotlessly clean and we felt very safe that it had been cleaned to the standards needed in the current situation. All in all we had a great holiday and will definitely be returning.

Very disappointed with cleanliness after being told it had been professionally deep cleaned the day of our arrival. The ensuite shower was covered in black Mildew, the oven was dirty as was the dishwasher. We were celebrating my wife & her friends 60th Birthday and one of the reasons we booked the lodge was to be able to sit outside (having been in lockdown for 5 months) on the veranda & also eat out there however, the table & chairs shown in the website pictures was not there (we were told it was removed due to covid, however covid guidelines recommend being outside). However the main issue was that soon after our arrival we could hear a pump start to run and then the vile unbelievable stench of raw sewage from the cesspit made it impossible to go outside. Even the owner admitted she could smell it outside of her house and suggested leaving the pump running continually (this made no. difference) the smell eventually subsided after about 3 hours but returned again at the same time every day when we could hear a pump cut in, this totally spoiled our stay. When we raised this issue with the owners son he even queried if the smell was from their property at this point his mother confirmed it was.

I couldn’t complain about a single thing. Accommodated for 12 people at a very low cost and provided us with all we needed for our stay. Made my Birthday weekend perfect. The only that that would’ve made it even better would’ve been a hot tub.

Stayed here for 2 weeks with colleagues whilst working in Harrogate, a short drive for Harrogate and you are in a beautiful rural woodland and feel like you are miles from anywhere! Clean, comfortable and everything you need to survive, great for groups with the communal kitchen and what I like to call the Harry Potter doors that link the 2 lodges (Professor Doubledoor)! Beware if you are walking down the hill to the pub, it’s a lovely walk but they don’t accept card payment (no modern magic there) and the walk back up is hell lol Overall an amazing location and well worth a visit x

Breathtaking views nearby. Conveniently located near Summerbridge and the local farm for raw milk and free range eggs. The adjoining cottages are excellently furnished with a home-from-home feel. Welcomed by home-made cakes and a tea service all set up and ready to go, our every need has been catered to! The washer/dryer has been a blessing with all the rain and the dishwasher, a bonus. The WiFi has been a necessity for those of us checking in with work and for the resident teenager - who has also enjoyed the day trips and attractions - especially York! Excellent communication prior to the trip. We would come back again.
