We stayed between Christmas and New Year with friends visiting from the USA. The property was magnificent, nicely appointed cottages, great food, and a variety of activities. Graeme, the general manager and his staff are very attentive and did everything they could to make

This customer booked via an online travel agent and failed to read our website that clearly states we are a remote property, accessible only by water taxi or helicopter with no road access. Instead they decided to try and drive here. I am unsure how we can be accused of bad customer service when all these guests had to do was read our website or perhaps pick up a phone and talk to us and we would have been more than happy to assist. Instead the customer phoned us and cancelled a 3 night reservation - and was not interested in our offers to assist with a private water taxi.

It’s difficult for a hotel to shine in low season but I can’t help but feel this one is a big missed opportunity. The property itself is ok, though it’s starting to show its age in terms of style and the public areas lack atmosphere - to be fair, not easy when there are only a

Thank you Richard for your review and for including the Bay of Many Coves in your recent itinerary. I have taken on board your feedback regarding the delay in receiving orders and have addressed this with our front of house and kitchen teams. The Bay of Many Coves Resort is set on 60 hectares of land in the remote Arthur’s Bay. We have 6km of our own walking tracks that we maintain ourselves. Arthur’s Bay is also home to 5 other other holiday homes which are vacant for most of the year but unfortunately on one of the days you were here, our closest neighbour was having repairs made to his jetty and the noise you heard was the boat that was carrying out those repairs. We apologise for this inconvenience. I have also taken on board your comments regarding the provision of activities on the water. We do offer kayaks, dingys, and stand-up paddle boards and have recently added a floating jetty for guests to swim onto from the Resort. We also have a number of activities which are in and around the Marlborough Sounds and our team are always happy to assist guests with all activity requirements. Thank you again Richard for staying and we hope the rest of your journey around New Zealand is memorable.

That’s a really great question. Simple answer is ‘no’ you do not have to take the meal package when booking a room at the Resort. In terms of value - that is an individual preference. Some guests like to know that everything is all inclusive whilst others like to make that decision once they get here. I hope this is helpful. Graeme and Kim Smith | General Manager/s

There are some lovely marine reserves in the region such as Long Island - check out the DOC Parks website (link unable to be added to this site) from the lodge itself we would recommend swimming, kayaking,or going out to take a dive tour or snorkel tour with local operators to long island - or visits marine life from boat charters such as dolphins, (or swimming with dolphins) little blue penguins, many sea birds, and other marine life. Please email us directly for more details on all the possible options.
