I was meant to be spending a night here we my brother, however ended up going with my wife (not a bad substitution). We spent the late afternoon in the bar sampling the mulled wine and the local ales(Bakewell Bitter and Farmers Blonde). They are both excellent and the atmosphere in the place is really warm and welcoming. Later after a... More

We stayed here for a cheeky night away, visiting Bakewell and Chatsworth House before and after. We had our tea in the pub, (steak and ale pie followed by the cheeseboard). It was gorgeous. Nice real ale, and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

We stayed for two nights 5 and 6th November to calibrate or 45th Wedding Anniversary. We could not have chosen a better place to stay. The staff, and the food was second to none, perfect breakfast so beautifully prepared and served. The evening meals could not be bettered. The best roast beef dinner I have ever had. Staff could not... More

We had such a lovely evening here on a cold November night the pub was warm and welcoming. The staff were attentive without being too full on. Both opted for the venison which was amazing and the tempranillo washed it down a treat!!!! Menu looked amazing. Thankyou.

Stayed 2 nights Fri & Sat 21st/22nd October 2016. Stayed in room 7 which was very cosy and excellently presented with a lovely bathroom and comfy bed. All staff were friendly and welcoming and general atmosphere in the pub/restaurant area superb. Pub menu food on Friday night, Fish & Chips and Burger, was delicious and the Ham Hock starter my... My girlfriend and I recently stayed here for one night, the room we booked was very nice with a four poster bed and pleasant en suite. However the highlight of the stay was the food served on the evening (and breakfast) which was superb. Each dish we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted divine, even if you don't stay here... The Chequers comes with a great reputation but in our case fell far short of expectations and value. It is literally right on the main road which makes exits hazardous and noise levels significant. Our main issue, however, is with the condition of carpets and infrastructure. Shabby chic would be a compliment, cracked tiles, cracked bath and toilet cistern are... More

We apologise if you were not entirely happy with your recent visit. Unfortunately, there is little we can do about our proximity to the road. We do not hide the fact that we are directly next to it, and the main picture on our website shows how close we are. Secondary glazing is provided in all road facing rooms to... More

We visited The Chequers for Sunday lunch for a family get together. My Daughter & Son in Law were up from London and we wanted an authentic Derbyshire experience for them but done well. The Chequers didn't disappoint. We arrived at 2.00 and the place was nicely busy. We were shown to our table and drinks swiftly appeared. The choice... More

I remembered this pub from 30 years ago, when it was excellent. Well, it still is. Lovely decor, wooden floors and a cosy feel. Fine ales and the food is first class. Next time, I come to Peak District, gonna stay here.
