Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was my fourth visit to the Woll, staying for 4 days in the lodges and playing golf each day. The lodges themselves are clean and spacious and situated on the course, just off of the 15th green so you just have a small walk across the course to tee off. The course itself is always in very good condition and offers up quite a few challenges on most holes. (Dog legs left and right, elevated tees, elevated greens, a few water features, etc) We always eat in the restaurant on the first night and the prices and food are great. You’ve got fridges, freezers, cookers, microwaves and dishwashers in the lodges so you can also bring all your own food and drink for the weekend should you wish to do so. All staff, without exception were fabulous and two of our group actually fit a lift from the owner after he seen them walking up through Ashkirk with their clubs and bags! I really can’t recommend this place enough.

New Woll Estate is a fantastic venue for stay and play golf in the Borders. We have organised golf breaks at New Woll Estate several times now for a group of 16 people and we cannot praise it highly enough. The accommodation is brilliant - warm, light, and airy lodges with everything you need for a luxury stay (some even have saunas). The clubhouse is excellent at any time of day – we had breakfasts, lunches, and dinners there and the food and service was really great. The golf course was in top condition, very well maintained, and it’s a wonderful course. Each hole is different and interesting, with some beautiful par 3s. It’s also the people who work there that really put this venue in a class above anywhere else though.

Been going here with a party of 20 people for over 10 years and the place is great. From the apartments, staff in restaurants, golf course. Nothing is ever a problem and they are all lovely down there. Highly recommend it and you get unlimited golf and a night out in Hawick.

Played a round of golf today with a bacon roll pre-round and two course dinner after. Food was great, course was in excellent condition and a good challenge. I genuinely don’t think the staff could’ve been friendlier or more helpful! Will definitely visit again.

A superb golf course with a wide variety of holes, many natural water hazards & great bunkering. All Fairways & Greens are in immaculate condition on this challenging course. The Fairways undulate & the greens are fast & true. No matter what your skill level it's great fun to play as the course offers the chance of many Par putts as most of the greens are reachable if you can negotiate the hazards to get to them. The restaurant has a friendly atmosphere & offers reasonably priced tasty food be it a breakfast roll or evening meal. We played this course for the 1st time as part of a Golf Outing using our £10 'Scottish Golf Show Tickets' & found it so good we made the 6 hour round trip again only 3 weeks later to play it again.

Just got back from a most enjoyable 2 night stay at this excellent golf course. The accommodation is very good. Comprising of self catering bungalows and an apartment. Which are very clean and have all the amenities if you want to cook for yourself. Alternatively a short walk from the accommodation will take you to the clubhouse and restaurant. Which serves a decent selection of tasty homemade food. The staff are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. The golf course is great. It’s quite a challenging course with some testing holes. And punishes shots that miss the very well kept fairways. As long grass borders all of the fairways. So make sure you take plenty of golf balls. The greens are in great condition. Physically the course isn’t too bad as it’s quite flat with a couple of small climbs. However if you do have any mobility issues, buggies are available. All in all it’s a lovely place to stay and play golf.

Third visit to the Woll Estate and can only say NOTHING could be improved from accommodation to golf course to club house! Everything is absolutely perfect! The staff bend over backwards to help. Honestly, you won’t be disappointed in this place whether for s game of golf or a mini break!

Had two games, both enjoyable but better when undertaken from a buggy. The course is not unduly long but has been well designed within the given space. Greens were difficult to read and not uniform 're pace. The staff were excellent and the drinks and food were good and well presented. Altogether good value for money.

I visited here on Sat 14th Aug 21 with 5 mates for golf. It was worth the 2hrs travelling time. Not any of us could fault our day - from the rolls and tea before going round to the golf course itself which was challenging and had fantastic greens which surprised me - definitely a level up from majority of private courses I have played on. The food was excellent and so too was the customer service - Lorraine in particular on service desk very welcoming. Would definitely return!
