We offer bed and breakfast and a one-bed (twin) self catering holiday cottage. Our restaurant offers superb food, wines and ales in this traditional Northumberland village pub. If you enjoy good food at a reasonable price then the Pack Horse Inn is the place to eat. All the food is prepared fresh daily using the best locally sourced ingredients. There is no bought in pre-prepared food served at the Pack Horse, and consequently the menu changes almost on a daily basis to ensure the freshest most interesting seasonal food is always available.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A true Olde English Country Inn . Small but very cozy bar with Log Fire and a separate side entrance to get to your Room. Very friendly Staff and the Locals willing to engage in conversation. A well appointed bathroom with a good Shower Taking into account the Inn is only few miles off the A1 you would not think so and the surrounding Countryside is very pleasant to the eye with autumn colours still evident on the Trees. Enjoyed my stay and back in Northumberland early December so booked again :)

Excellent place to stay. Popular pub with lively atmosphere, a real fire, good selection of beers and awesome food. Staff are friendly and efficient - we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend to others. We will come back again.

Lovely stay for a Saturday wedding. Minimum 2 night stay was fine for us as we made the most of the Friday but a single night stay may be helpful Very welcoming staff Check in stress free Friendly bar and waiting staff Very nice evening meal on first night Breakfast… can’t fault it A lovely stay for a wedding and probably a nice base for a Northumberland break. Only downside no village shop

Lovely little pub. The owner and staff were very helpful and welcoming . Breakfast was the best I’ve had in a hotel and the evening meal was really beautifully cooked . The bath needed attention which I told the owner about but otherwise a really nice little place to stay in.

The pub was very full when we arrived which in itself is not an issue the problem was it was full of a large group of “gentlemen “ I say that loosely as they were fresh from a shoot and drunk and rude. We ate in the conservatory area as a group of 10 and the food was excellent unfortunately a large fight broke out in the bar and so the ambiance of the meal was spoilt and we ate up and left. The staff did a great job of trying to contain the rowdy bunch but they did get way out of hand and it became very scary.

Stayed in Rm 2 which was described as having a view over the garden. What you actually had was a view of a pitched roof (over the restaurant), the garden could just be glimpsed to the side. The room also faces a road up the side of the pub, although road noise was not a problem during our stay. Room was a fairly good size, but a little tired decoration wise - the bathroom, particularly the shower, a little on the small side, with nowhere to hang wet towels. Although a hair dryer is provided, there is no mirror in the bedroom, so blow drying your hair is a challenge! Bed / mattress are both very soft - not a problem if that is your preference, but not good if you prefer one on the medium to firm side. Breakfast was excellent and cooked to order with local ingredients. Not able to comment on food in the evenings as the restaurant was shut on the two nights we stayed. Location is great for touring around Northumberland, both along the coast and further inland.

The room was ideal for my needs as I was attending a wedding. Spacious en suite shower room. Comfortable bed. The breakfast was superb on both mornings I was there. I sat in the garden with a coffee which was so peaceful. The staff were friendly and it was excellent value for money.

We stayed for two nights. Welcoming staff, beautiful room that was lovely and clean. The breakfast was perfect. We had a Thai meal in the evening that was absolutely delicious. It’s in a great spot that’s close to lots of the local places to visit. I’d definitely go again.
