We offer bed and breakfast and a one-bed (twin) self catering holiday cottage. Our restaurant offers superb food, wines and ales in this traditional Northumberland village pub. If you enjoy good food at a reasonable price then the Pack Horse Inn is the place to eat. All the food is prepared fresh daily using the best locally sourced ingredients. There is no bought in pre-prepared food served at the Pack Horse, and consequently the menu changes almost on a daily basis to ensure the freshest most interesting seasonal food is always available.

Visited this friendly little pub in the country recently. Had a lovely meal with great service during the covid crisis. Friendly, socially distanced and careful service. Food selection on the menu was fair and focussed. Good atmosphere and a decent pint !

The Pack Horse is a great Northumbrian coaching Inn which has style quality and lots of character From the heavy beamed bar with its collection of mugs hanging from the beams to the roaring log fire it’s a fabulous entrance and welcome for all its guests The chef provides excellent value for money with a very good menu of local produce from steaks to sharing Camembert starters it has what you want at a good price Emma and her team are equally welcome and very Covid 19 aware to ensure your health and safety The bedrooms are spacious with good en-suites and lovely views of the village surrounding The Pack Horse is a quality find amongst the stunning countryside of North Northumberland

We have eaten here before and enjoyed it. However, we have just returned from the Packhorse in Ellingham and can only say we were very underwhelmed and disappointed. Being put in a room on our own there was absolutely no atmosphere. The vegetarian choice (not choices) was disappointing and I can't say it was anything special. Staff were friendly enough but based upon this evenings experience it is highly unlikely we will return.

Had a good meal but my mackerel starter ,,although tasty was quite small with very little fish and leaves drowning in dressing. Mussels very good . Staff very friendly. Appeared to be dog friendly in the bar area. Local people in the bar chatty.

We stayed for 6 nights late Sept early Oct and I can't praise the staff enough. Emma, Jules, Simon and the rest of the team were welcoming and looked after us very well despite having to apply covid rules. We stayed in room 2 which was fine and we ate in the restaurant every evening:the food was excellent as were the breakfasts. The village is pleasant and quiet. We will definitely go back for another stay Highly recommended!
