We had a family get together in Dalrymple and instead of taking the Caravan in October we decided to splash out and stay at the Kirkton Inn. We were really looking forward to our stay but what a disappointment. We were led up a dark unlit passageway outside to a small cottage type dwelling which looked more like a fisherman's...

We have lots of family in the village and come up to Dalrymple at least once a year. We stayed at the Kirkton for the second time and I have to say the refurbishment they have started is a 100% improvement on the last time we stayed. We stayed in one of the family rooms on the outside of the...

The rooms outside are nice, varying in size ,but a fridge and microwave would have helped as you are in the middle of nowhere and by the time i finished work the restaurant had closed so we had to order a takeaway from another village, very clean and lovely people though

I stayed here recently with my wife. Our stay was not perfect, we had issues when we arrived that I will not disclose, but to be fair to the owners they pretty much resoved them for us and our stay thereafter was fine. In fact, the breakfast each morning was excellent. The price was also very reasonable. The town of...

TooT'n'Skamen are a six piece Ska band from Maidstone Kent. We were booked by a wedding party to play at their reception in Dalrymple, in June. Accommodation was provided for us at The Kirkton, six band members plus our sound man. We found the owners very friendly & the rooms were spotlessly clean with good facilities. Plenty of tea &...

Easy to find on the main road through the village. Friendly and helpful staff, nice food especially breakfast but the rooms were a little sad and in need of some work. On the plus side they do allow dogs to stay. A good location for exploring the local area. BT WiFi available.

Although the exterior looks in need of TLC it belies the warmth and charm of this old worldly pub. We stumbled across this pub,,arriving late without a booking, but all this was handled without a problem. The proprietor is a very hard-working and determined lady who is trying, single-handedly to rejuvenate this previously run down establishment. It is a work...

I was travelling solo researching family history and wanted to stay in simple accommodation at or as near to Dalrymple as I could manage. I read all of the previous reviews and they were really helpful. Room reservation was simple and efficient. Late night arrival was no problem and they were happy to receive me at any time including small...

Stopped here on way home to Edinburgh from Stranraer. Kids were desperate for food and I remembered the Kirkton from a few years earlier, food was excellent and really hit the spot. not the most modern of hotels but if its food your looking for on a short stop it does the trick
