It's actually quite hard not to recommend this Pousada, although we personally had some challenges during our stay. It's most definitely part of a full experience of this historic city, being a historic hotel itself, and, at the same time, offers an experience close to nature, w/gardens from where the kitchen staff gets some of the fruit served at the above-average breakfast buffet. Everyone is quite nice - Cleidemar, the manager, was very helpful when I arrived w/changing a tire that blew on the way there (I strongly recommend that one drive over Goiania to come to Goias - not any other route, as we did on our way there).

The challenge we had involved the bar - which, by the way, makes excellent caipiroscas. We were at the Pousada for a choir meeting - our daughter is member of a youth choir. Unfortunately, members of an adult choir thought they had the Pousada to themselves and the bar manager did a very poor job of controlling the noise these people made for 2 nights...

We loved this pousada. The breakfast, which was included, was delicious - everything was homemade. The cook gave us pao de quejo hot from the oven, the jams were made from strange brazilian fruits (as well as recognisable ones), there were several different types of cake. We ate our by the bright blue pool that reflected the bright blue sky. The room was very reasonable - largish with a double bed and ensuite. As with all the other places I stayed in Brazil, the shower was not that warm. There was air con, but it was very noisy so we opened the windows with the shutters closed all night and that was fine. The main building of the pousada is an original 18th century colonial style building with white walls and green shutters. Inside the decoration is like something out of World of Interiors. The staff speak only Portuguese but made the effort to understand our sign language! Overall a great stay and highly recommended. More

“Ask for rooms close to the main house, to avoid problems like noisy guests around the pool. Did not check out the chalets beyond the pool.”
