Could not fault a thing! 2 level house, with a queen bed in the main (downstairs) bedroom and 2 beds in the upstairs room. Nice little kitchen with all the amenities you'd want and a large sitting.tv room. Owners could not have been friendlier and helpful. Would certainly stay again

My Wife and I stayed overnight in the cottage and it was warn inviting and very comfortable. Self Contained and very peaceful place to stay, Alexander went out of his way to help up, even with advice on good restaurants in the Richmond/Sorrell townships.

My Wife and I will certainly be back.

We stayed one night at Alexanders during a driving holiday around Tasmania. We'd spent the morning at Eaglehawk Neck and the afternoon exploring the wineries of the Coal River valley, and were looking forward to getting off the road and relaxing. Alexanders certainly was the place for doing that!

The property was very clean and tidy. A little out of town, but in a quiet location. Easy to return to Richmond or Sorell in search of dinner. Alexander had called a few days before our arrival and sorted out our breakfast requirements - the requested muesli was there, plus fresh bread, margarine and jams, milk, orange juice, coffee and biscuits. We stayed in the downstairs double bedroom which was very comfortable. Having managed to drop my spare glasses case in the bedroom when packing up, I was gratified to receive a call from Alexander letting me know that he'd found them and was posting them to me.

Well worth considering as a base for visiting the Coal River valley and even the Tasman peninsula.

I am not used to writing negative reviews however I feel that things need to improve. Firstly the photos on the booking sites do not reflect the appearance of this cottage now. The outside is very untidy, the garden and lawn areas are dead. The outside table and chairs were dirty, BBQ was full of grease. The ashtray outside was full of cigarette butts. When first walking in, the chalet was spacious however very unkept. The small oven in the kitchen was not clean, there were crumbs on the floors and under the chairs obviously from previous guests. The shower had mould in it and the floor mats were unclean. It is advertised as complimentary breakfast which you find in a plastic tub with 4 slices of bread in the fridge in snap lock bags. We are not overly fussy people but this chalet needs a good clean. One positive was the host was lovely.

Set in a quiet rural location a few minutes drive from Richmond, Alexander's is a pleasant spot to spend a couple of nights while exploring the Richmond area.
The cottage has a queen bedroom, kitchen, lounge and bathroom downstairs, while the upstairs area has two queen beds. It is well equipped and comfortable, with continental breakfast provisions provided. A gas BBQ is provided on the back patio also.
Be aware that there is no wifi, which can be a positive or negative, depending on your outlook.

Spent four nights staying this lovely cottage.
Well appointed with everything myself and my two teenage children needed. Plenty of breakfast provisions provided and a couple of extras that the teenagers loved..Alexander was fantastic and gave us some wonderful tips that made our holiday even more enjoyable.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Alexander's to anyone and would also return at any time

It was a great way to spend our last two nights in Tasmania, allowing us to explore the local attractions, coming & going as we pleased. With all the privacy, comfort and mod cons you could ask for, not to mention a yummy selection of continental breakfast items. Excellent value for a family of four.
Would suggest removing or dimming the EXIT sign in the upstairs bedroom, as it made for an unsettling night for my girls.

Spent one night here on an extremely windy and cold night in October. The accomodation was adequate but nothing to write home about. The location is a little out of town, set in a rural area quite pleasant. The house is set over two levels, the upstairs open bedroom area was very noisy with the wind and the bright green exit light ( the owner insisted was needed for regulations) even when covered was brighter than a night light and very annoying. Nothing special but worth the money spent.

Response from 445066Alexander, Owner at Alexanders' of Richmond

On a freezing cold day you arrived at Alexander's andyou were very happy to come into our warm and cosy chalet.Out of the 5 people in your group their was only one person unhappy .You were treated with kindness and civillity and made welcome. It was patiently explained to you about the exit light being there because of the building regulations. The light would not be there if it was not necessary for safety purposes. You slept in a clean and comfortable queen sized bed in a very large room. It is not our fault that it was blowing a gale that night. As always we treated our guests with excellent service and courtesy.sometimes it is impossible to please

Alexanders was a wonderful stay, just 5 minutes from Richmond and 30 minute drive to Hobart. The cottage reasonably priced and is well equipped with great amenities, including continental breakfast, comfy beds, spacious lounge area with plenty of dvds, air conditioning and a downstairs fan.

My mother and I stayed at the end of 2019 and Alexander and his wife were extremely helpful with directions and local restaurant ideas. We experienced a very, very hot 35+ degree day and Alexander even came and turned the air conditioning on for us to ensure we arrived to a nice cool cottage.

For those looking for a reasonably priced, comfortable stay, close to town, Alexanders is a great choice :)
