We had looked at another farmstay that had lots of positive reviews, but then found this one that was half the price but not many reviews. For the price we decided we would give it a go, surely for 2 nights it would still be ok?
Well, this was the most relaxing part of our holiday in Tasmania. The cottage we were in was so clean and modern, and the kids (2&4) loved finding there was a collection of toys and books for them to play with.

In the morning we pulled back the curtains to see chickens wandering outside, our son loved going out to talk to them and give them some food scraps. And the breakfast basket delivered by Kim was just divine, especially the freshly laid eggs!
The farm tour was fantastic, and I wished we did it both days. Sharon loves all her animals and the kids (and us!) enjoyed meeting them and feeding them.

Thankyou Sharon and Kim for your wonderful farmstay, we will definitely be staying with you again on our next trip to Tasmania.

We enjoyed staying at Tara’s Richmond Farmstay and used it as a base to explore Richmond, Hobart and then to catch our flight home from the Hobart Airport. The breakfast each morning was amazing and included homemade bread and jam. Our children, 3 and 1, enjoyed watching the chickens out the sliding door in the morning and going to visit the rabbits and horses. The cottage also had a basket of toys which has great for out little ones. They also provided a portacot free of charge for our infant. The cottage is very modern and had plenty of space for us. Great to have a washing machine in it as well. I would highly recommend staying here if visiting the Hobart/Richmond area with young children.

Taras is such a treat. A lovely welcome from Kim and Sharon, cosy comfortable units and such a great spot. We all loved the friendly chooks that kept us entertained with their antics and the few minutes walk down to the river. The walking farm tour ( extra fee but absolutely worthwhile and a highlight) with Sharon to feed the animals was fun and so entertaining. She is passionate about their rescue animals and a great storyteller.
Brekkie was delivered to our door by Kim with fresh baked bread, chook eggs, juice, cereal, yoghurt, fruit and ground coffee.
Teen and tween both loved it and wanted to stay longer.
Equipped with children’s books and toy box for little people too.

Tara's Farmstay was brilliant! Kim and Sharon were exceptional host's and made us feel welcome from the first minute. The modern two bedroom cottage was very comfortable and fully equipped with everything you may need. Washer, Dryer, Cooktop and Stove etc - it's all there. Back patio with BBQ, table and chairs and a great area for smokers. Fresh homemade bread, egg's, jam, cereal, juice, and yogurt every morning - who could ask for more! Handy to everything and a very pleasant place to stay. Thank you both for a great start to our Tassie Holiday. Oh, by the way, Sharon's homemade Raspberry jam is out of this world!

Sharon and Kim are such wonderful hosts, they made us feel at home with their hospitality and were incredibly welcoming to their farm.

Comfortable accomodation, great breakfast basket with freshly laid eggs, baked bread and jams.

Also did a tour around the farm feeding animals in the morning, it was lovely meeting all of their animals around the farm and Sharon's affection towards her animals are so inspiring and full of love.

Don't hesitate to check them out !

For the quality of the accommodation, its location, and friendly service/assistance from the owners, this has got to be one of the best farmstay experiences in Tasmania. I stayed in the Wellington Studio, with immaculately maintained facilities, (the carpet and bathroom ensuite where in as-new condition),for 3 nights); which I suggest is ideal for the solo traveller! If you have your own transport it is ideally situated a short 5-10 minute drive outside of the historic village of Richmond and a relatively short drive (30 minutes) to Hobart and other tourist attractions. I would recommend this farmstay to family and friends without hesitation.

This is such a quaint, comfortable farm stay. Tara has been really friendly and helpful, and we were touched that she provided so much gluten free food for my son. Love the animals, especially Blackie the dog and Charlie the lamb! Now, my son is clamoring for a lamb as a pet!

The apt itself is very clean and comfortable, and Tara has provided much information on the apt as well as Richmond town and the surrounding attractions. The warmly made bread in the mornings is sublime, and always caused us to overeat! The raspberry jam is yummy and we bought two jars of it before we left. We also enjoyed the animal feeding, the tour of the farm and picking the raspberries and strawberries.

Thanks, Tara, for a great stay. I think you are a superwoman, juggling so many things at the same time.

Thank you for taking time out of your busy life to write such a great and descriptive review. We're really pleased your family enjoyed your time here and our home made bread and jams. We know how hard it is to travel with dietary restrictions, and so if we're aware of this prior to arrival we always try to provide a good assortment of alternatives :-) We hope you make it back to visit again one day!

We only had one night here but it was comfy, cosy, clean, with a beautiful bathroom and an amazing breakfast basket, which included hot fresh homemade bread. Tara is lovely and her dog, Blackie, the golden retriever is so adorable. Tge property is so peaceful and relaxing, we wish we had been able to stay longer.

An awesome 3-night stay with a very friendly owner, Tara. Cottage was clean and breakfast which contains a loaf of freshly baked bread was hand-delivered each morning by Tara at your preferred timing.
Kudos to Tara who manages the farm alone with two young girls.
Thank you Tara for the wonderful stay and we definitely miss you and the homemade breakfast and the small animals.
