Our family of 10, from ages 5 years to 70 years spent a perfect week at Lone Mountain Ranch this past August. The cabins and meals were first class. The entire staff was expert and accommodating. The riding program was embraced by everyone, equally by adults and children, equally by those anticipating with excitement and dread. The horses were all... More

The Ranch is conveniently located to Bozeman, the shopping and restaurants in the village and the ski area at Big Sky. Our cabin was beautifully decorated with a working wood stove which we put to good use. It was 18 degrees the morning we left and got cold at night. The food at the restaurant, however, was disappointing. What should... More

My wife and I stayed at Lone Mountain for 3-nights before heading to Yellowstone. Less than 2 hrs from the park, it's easy for day trips or stop on the way. The ranch is in Big Sky and close to both the town center and mountain resort up the street. The place is cozy and well-kept. A friendly staff makes... More

I looked online and chose LMR for it's Orvis and NatGeo rankings. So glad I did! We had an amazing time! We purchased the Discovery Package, which included all meals and activities except for fly-fishing. The lodge offers many activities and worked with us to make sure we were able to do everything on our wish list within a 4... More

Chef Eric joined us this year and the dining has never been better! Randy has been with the ranch since the early 90's and he is one of the best people I've ever had the honor to work with. Thank you for your kind words about them and the rest of our team. We are very lucky to have guests... More

Nestled into a high meadow beneath Lone Mountain, this guest ranch has ruggedly beautiful grounds and a high-ceilinged lodge with good food. Although they have plenty of horses we did not ride. We were 12 active 55-year old women (college friends) having a reunion. We hiked every day and had a 1-day tour of Yellowstone with a guide from Lone... More

We're so glad you held your reunion here and thank you for the lovely description of the ranch. It's great to see Ridgetop worked out so well - it's the perfect spot for a large group of friends. Next time we'll set up the large table and the big coffee pot! That was an oversight on our part we could... More

My 2 daughters and I stayed at Lone Mountain Range last August and we absolutely loved it. I have a 5 and 10 yrs old and we enjoyed every minute. They have tons of activities for kids and adults (fishing, horseback riding, hiking, zip lining, etc.). The kids’ activities are very well organized and the staff is very friendly. The... More

I’m not sure I can find the right words to describe just how amazing our Montana vacation at LMR was this summer. We stayed for a week in mid-August, and we can’t wait to go back. We were a big group – 16 family members ranging in age from 13 to 80. We were celebrating my father-in-law’s birthday, and the... More

For our first trip away from our daughter, we debated laying on a beach and sleeping, but decided instead to indulge in the activities we missed most since she was born. We wanted to ride horses, fish, hike -- but we wanted to be in a comfortable luxurious setting where we could rest well at night. LMR delivered! Great full... More

We often hear the ranch is an incredible (and pleasantly surprising) alternative to the beach... So happy it worked out this way you! My wife and I spent 4 full days there with our retriever, which was a key decision factor for us. The fishing is great. We spent 3 days floating the Madison and caught lots of fish -- Rainbows, Browns , Whites, and Cut Throats. Fishermen should be aware that the Madison is 1.5 hours away and the Yellowstone is 2... I'm thrilled you found what you were looking for at the ranch. It's really encouraging to see your fishing was productive. The low water this season made for a bit of a challenge, as some of the closer streams haven't been fishing as well, but we always have the Madison and for that we are very fortunate. I hope you'll... More

Character (place, people, activities) with Service (activities, people). Food was very good, fishing was okay (not the best time of year for trout in August). Everyone was very personable, service-oriented. Not as remote as one might think.

I'm really glad you enjoyed your visit - especially the character of the ranch and the quality of our people. It wasn't that long ago August was a prime time for fly fishing but in recent seasons low water and hot temps have slowed things down. The better fishing is happening in June, July, and Sept.
