The peak season at Glacier national park is mid June to Labor Day. Coming 20-26 May has some raw weather and road closures. No crowds though! Xanterra manages the property and is very professional and accommodating. We stayed in Snyder unit near the main lodge. Maybe 9 rooms in our building all sharing 3 nice bathrooms. It worked out fine.... More

Great place for lunch....and for a ride around the lake. One must try the bison meatloaf!!!! And the river water IPA!!! Friendly staff and a historic place make for great ambiance!!! Recommended!!! The location is excellent and many people come for the day. The lake is beautiful and the views of the surrounding mountains breathtaking!!!

1. Lake McDonald Lodge is one of five hotels/lodges run by Xanterra in Glacier National Park. The others are the Village Inn at Apgar, Rising Sun Motor Inn, Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, and the 100 year old Many Glacier Hotel. St Mary's Lodge just outside the eastern entrance to the park is not run by Xanterra. 2. Lake McDonald Lodge and... More

In the past I have only stayed in the lodge itself. This time we stayed in the adjacent cabins (operated by the same company). The cabin was cute basic and convenient. Parking was right by the door, we were close to everything and even had a picnic table to sit at to play, eat and relax at to remember our... More

This is a masterpiece at the shoes off lake mcdonald. Grounds are inviting and they have gift shops and restaurants open to everyone. Their lobby has to be seen. At the back they have a creek feeding the lake and boat tours which are good if you have time. Grocery store and another restaurant are in the campus of you... More

This is a great location to be near Logan pass and southern areas of the park. We stayed here two nights in small cabins. They were both on the lake with windows. So nice to step out of our front door to a paved walkway to see the lake through trees or a short walk to the historical lodge. Our... More

We recently stayed two nights at the Lake McDonald Lodge. We found the lodge and grounds fit our needs just right. We had a corner room in the lodge on the second floor. We had windows on two sides and enjoyed the cross ventilation. Our room was clean, comfortable and the bathroom was of good size. We liked that several... More

We stayed here one night and wished our itinerary had planned for more. This is a well kept classic lodge of the Arts and Crafts era. Our room was small, reflecting the era in which it was built, but well maintained and appointed. The lobby is something out of a perion National Geographic magazine. Staff was very helpful - in... We rented the small cabin and it is just that, a small cabin. There were two of us and two full beds. Had there been four, it would have been a tight fit, but in reality, we didn't spend much time in the cabin except to wash and sleep. Most of the cabins have at least two families renting rooms,...
