My husband and I just returned from a four night winter stay at Triple Creek. We had an absolutely wonderful time. The property and setting are beautiful, especially covered in snow, everyone on the staff was just excellent, and the food and activities were all very, very good. I would give the resort 4.5 stars if that were an option, as it was better than "very good" but there were just a few tiny things that kept it from being "above and beyond" level perfection. I'll get these out of the way first and share in the hopes of being constructive rather than critical as, like I said, we had a wonderful vacation overall. First, some aspects of the design and decor are quite dated. Our cabin, Trapper, while very cozy and comfortable, could really use some minor updating (e.g., the almond color sinks and toilets, the dated tile in the shower, and the brass-trimmed mirrored doors on the closets). I imagine this is the case for many/most of the other cabins as well. Second, the food was very, very good, but was extremely rich - lots of cream sauces and heavy dishes. Perhaps just because it's winter, but something to be aware of! Third, we did a day of skiing at Lost Trail mountain - we were there on a Saturday after a good snowfall, so of course the mountain was very busy. We had to wait almost 90 minutes to get our lift tickets and rentals - by far the low point of our trip. Since the resort offers transportation to the mountain and lift tickets/rentals included in the rate, they should go the extra mile and arrange a "ski concierge" service like some other properties (e.g., Amangani in Jackson Hole), so that guests don't have to deal with the masses at the ticket and rental windows and can go straight to the lifts upon arriving at the mountain. Finally, we would've appreciated a bit more customization with some of the activities - for example, the ranch offers guided 90 minute snowshoeing and cross country skiing trips. My husband and I are athletic, avid hikers, and requested to do a longer outing, but we were told this wasn't possible, and that the trips were 90 minutes, full stop. We also would have liked a more adventurous horseback riding excursion beyond the hour-long, "nose to tail" trail ride that was offered. I think we are probably on the more "outdoorsy" side of the spectrum of Triple Creek guests, so this may not be an issue for most, but we just would've appreciated that extra level of personalization. Now, onto the positive. The setting is absolutely spectacular. We loved the feeling of remoteness and seclusion amid the tall Ponderosa pines. And we loved wandering around the property to visit the horses (and the elk who hang out in the pasture to steal the horses' food!). We spent a lot of time enjoying the private hot tub on our cabin's deck, which was just magical, especially when the snow was falling. Our cabin was very comfortable and cozy, with everything we needed - from a small kitchenette to a wood-burning fireplace to a massive four poster king bed to a wonderful steam shower. The owner's collection of western art is incredible, and we loved learning more about several of the artists while we were there. Every available surface at the resort seems to be covered in original artwork - our cabin alone had 15 pieces! The food and drinks were of excellent quality (we especially loved breakfasts) and very plentiful - the staff is constantly plying guests with meals, snacks and cocktails! The restaurant and rooftop lounge were both very comfortable and enjoyable places to linger over a meal or drinks. We ended up eating all our meals in the restaurant but appreciated that we could've just as easily ordered them to our cabin. And the packed lunches that the resort offers for longer activities and for your departure day (a really nice touch) were excellent! Activity options were plentiful and very well run. We did dogsledding, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, horseback riding, a private yoga class, and unguided snowshoeing around the property, and we had a great time with all. The guides were all wonderful, and the gear provided by the ranch was top notch. We enjoyed the "little extras" the resort provides like fresh cookies in the cabin every day and local caramels each evening. Every member of the staff that we encountered was lovely - all were eager to help and share a friendly conversation, but not in any way doting or overbearing. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Triple Creek and would happily return. While the rates are of course expensive, we loved the truly all-inclusive nature of the property and felt that it was well worth the cost - and, frankly, probably cost a lot less than if we had stayed at an a la carte property of similar caliber and paid for food, drinks and similar activities out of pocket. I would strongly recommend the ranch to anyone looking for a luxurious, relaxing getaway in a beautiful setting!…
Triple Creek is a great place if you’re looking for a quiet getaway without kids! All inclusive with amazing food and drinks! ALL employees are amazing! Patty and Jack are great bartenders, Matt and David are outstanding sommeliers, and Gerard and John are wonderful servers! Worth every penny; especially to stay in the Riverside house! Finally, be sure to work on a Stave Puzzle while there!
My wife and I went to TCR and it was truly one of the best vacations we ever had (and we travel a lot). TCR exceeded even our lofty expectations. At every point from the airport pickup to drop off, the service was incredible. I am not sure who does all the planning, but it is clearly very well orchestrated. For example, some days, we were lazy and stayed in the cabin past noon and other days we were more active and the housekeeping service never showed up while we were there--Guest Services knew when we would be in and out of the room based on our activity schedule. This may seem like a small detail, but it epitomizes the way the ranch is run--no aspect of the services provided are not thoughtful. The food is amazing and plentiful (it is an all inclusive ranch). The fireplace was not just stocked but expertly set up so that just lighting a match got a great fire going in the cabin. I could go on and on. I would like to particular mention a few people: Patty, bartender--so attentive and sweet, Sean, hiking guide--wonderful guy and made our hikes super interesting, Matt, all around dining superstar. Dave, great driver and always on time. While I can't remember everyone's name (sorry TCR), each and every staff member we encountered was fantastic. My wife and I have said that with so many places in the world to see, we would never go back to the same place twice no matter how great it was. Well, TCR has changed our mind and we will be back again for sure.…
I don't even know where to begin singing Triple Creek Ranch's praises. The grounds, staff, amenities, service, nature, food, wine, hospitality...they're all incredible. My boyfriend and I stayed at Triple Creek Ranch for 5 days in late October as a COVID getaway. We flew into Missoula and rented a car to make the hour and a half drive to Darby, which was very scenic! Pulling into the ranch, we were greeted by a herd of elk - a very authentic way to kick off our Western getaway. The main lodge check in area had a sign welcoming us in, and the staff showed us around the main lodge with the dining room, bar and activity center. We were showed to our cabin (we stayed in Lookout) I'd definitely recommend Lookout - huge 1 bedroom, right off the lodge so short walks to meals. Every cabin has its own golf cart to navigate the ranch - a huge perk! The king bed was extremely comfortable and we loved the steam shower. There was a fireplace that we used almost every night, and every morning housekeeping cleaned it out and replaced logs and stuffed with newspaper to help light it. An incredibly thoughtful touch that was so helpful! Every night housekeeping also leaves a little gift bag with the next morning's breakfast menu, your planned activities, weather reports and a small treat. So thoughtful. We did 2 activities per day which was a good mix of things to do with ample relaxing time. We horseback rode twice, went on a guided hike, fly fished off the ranch (this cost extra) and did the logging camp. We had a blast doing everything. I have never ridden a horse before and it was safe and fun. The fly fishing was also a highlight - we caught 7 trout! The ranch also packed us gourmet "sack" lunches to take. Highly recommend the peanut butter and jelly! Speaking of food - the food at Triple Creek is some of the best I've had in my life. Exquisite flavors, presentation, and service. The menu changes daily with what is fresh and available. Some of our favorite dishes were the split pea soup (all of the soups were insanely delicious), halibut, scallops, bolognese, the list goes on and on and on. We had antelope the last night which was delicious! The wine here is also spectacular. We arranged for a private wine tasting with Matt, the sommelier, which I highly recommend. The only SMALL "complaint" - I hate to even call it that - is the cell service/wifi. The ranch has wifi but the signal is very, very weak. I had absolutely no service on my phone the entire stay - I was checking in with family using the landlines. It allowed us to completely unplug but word to the wise who plan on checking emails and such - you can't! I cannot wait to visit Triple Creek again. The ranch and their staff truly make you feel at home, moreso than any other vacation I've been on. You're not an out-of-towner at the ranch. You are a familiar face, welcomed back warmly, even if it is your first visit.…
My wife and I celebrated out 3rd wedding anniversary at Triple Creek - and we were blown away by everything on the ranch. The staff are extremely friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. My wife and I joked - I don’t think we were told “no” once during our stay. The rooms are amazing - clean, spacious, and cozy. Plus you have your own private hot tub! The biggest surprise here was the food. It was outstanding, every meal felt like we were in a 5 star restaurant. We asked for multiple recipes because we loved the food that much. Oh, and if you’re busy - the staff is always willing to pack you food to go! We really cannot say enough about our stay - we are already planning our return trip.
