Its remote, it is basically off grid. The lodge runs off of solar and generator power. You will be driving a long ways on a gravel road, your car will get dirty. If any part of the previous sentence is unappealing to you, than don't go. If you love looking at a star filled sky untainted by any ambient light,...

Thank you for your candid review. Having driven the road to Elk Lake so many times, we sometimes forget how much of an adventure it presents to those unfamiliar with Montana back roads. We're glad you had a good time and look forward to your return!

Surprised my husband last Christmas with a 4 night trip for our family. Some drove, one flew and we all arrived with a plan to fish and have family time. OH..MY..GOODNESS. ..where do I start? Jake (super quick witted ) and Laurel (super sweet...not that you aren't Jake), are WONDERFUL and GRACIOUS hosts. Our guest house was cozy and warm...

Mary, you are so sweet! We enjoyed your family very much...so much love between all of you. And now you have a new grandbaby on the way to add to the joy! Thank you for the warm and generous review and we hope you come back sooner rather than later. Hugs!

Situated about an hour off Hiway 20 in Idaho, this beautiful hide-away is quite the place, pretty much year round. Rustic, but adequately equipped cabins in an environment of mountains and lakes, excellent for hiking and fishing. The drive is on mostly rough road; you take it really easy if you want to spare your car. At one point you...

We had so much fun hosting Blake and Sarah's wedding and meeting all their friends and family. I dare say Elk Lake has never hosted such an international crowd! Thank you for such a nice review and we're glad you enjoyed the food. It's a pleasure serving great people.

Part of the fun is getting to Elk Lake Resort, certainly off the grind in the Centennial Valley near the Idaho border. The lodge is a rustic log cabin with a nice room that looks over the lawn, Elk Lake and the beautiful mountains. The menu has lots of choices, but really you just need to decide on what kind...

We “discovered” this place from the road signs on a drive through Centennial Valley and came back to stay for a few days. What a fantastic setting. The cabins are rustic, charming and clean. Comfortable bed, good hot water and water pressure! The cabins are perfectly situated around a large lawn giving all the guests plenty of space, yet the...

On a visit to Widgeon Lake to see trumpeter swans, which also included an incredible siting on a sand bar of a huge bald eagle, with a friend, a curlew! And 2 trumpeters in front!! Amazing! They sat there forever! Then we took a right and traveled a short distance to a jewel spot, Elk Lake Resort and Lodge with...

Pro: This is a wonderful, off the beaten path outdoor oriented, mid-level priced resort for couples and families. We came for lunch. Fabulous, limited menu included extremely well prepared hamburgers, soups & fresh salad with grilled chicken strips. Could not stay but touring two cabins made us want to return. Cons: 18 mile dirt road to Elk Lake Resort is...

Thank you for your kind words. We were happy to meet you and it was great there were a couple cabins unoccupied so you could peek in. We do hope you'll come back!

We had the privilege to dine as the last table of the season. Now that I know where this place is, I'll be heading back for lunch on snowmobile when they reopen this winter. The lodge is in a beautiful setting with a main building, surrounding cabins and outbuildings, all off-grid, powered by solar and generator auxiliary when necessary. There...

Wow...what a beautiful written and generous review. We appreciate so much that you and the rest of the group were able to have dinner with us on our last night of the season...the perfect way to end it!
