This hotel was like being in a home setting. The comfort , ambiance, privacy, and welcoming experience could not have been better. Sandy the owner goes over and beyond her call of duty. Price is right, experience is unbelievable and location is great within the state. My mother was celebrating her 90th birthday. She was so excited with the location,... More

We spent a terrific night at the Argo! We were looking for a quiet, different stay for our 18th wedding anniversary and we found it! When we drove up to the Argo, we immediately appreciated the stature and craftsmanship of the building. Inside, it's a tribute to beautiful construction, furniture, photographs and a different and simpler time. Honestly, I’ve never... More

It is easy to serve guests who are as charming as you both. Thank you for choosing the Historic Argo Hotel to celebrate your anniversary. There is a lot to do in the area, even though we enjoy the benefits of a small mid-western town. I and my staff wish you many more happy anniversaries and hope you will spend... More

My husband saw a piece on Pure Nebraska about the Argo Hotel. We decided to take a weekend and go spend the night. It was a beautiful hotel. When you walk in it was like stepping back in time. It is so beautifully decorated and the staff was so helpful and kind. It is a great place and has many... More

The Argo is a great place for a weekend getaway. I'm so happy you appreciated the beauty of the hotel with its grand oak staircase, antiques and chandeliers. Built in 1912, it is a chance to see what accommodations were like in this town during the railroad boom while still being able to enjoy modern amenities. I'm proud of the... More

We had an AWESOME stay. We had a wedding reception in Niobrara, NE. So the location of the hotel was perfect, close, but not to close. The rooms were clean and neat. It was nice and quiet too. The owner was very friendly and helpful. She made a delicious breakfast for us. We will be visiting this hotel again!

The Historic Argo Hotel is a convenient place to stay when visiting Niobrara, NE. Many guests stay here for the weekend to golf at the Tatanka course at the Ohiya Casino and Resort in Niobrara. I was happy to be at your service. I'm so glad you chose us for your accommodations and hope you will return again soon. More

We wanted something special for a hotel near my great grandfather's burial. And we didn't want a chain hotel. And there was no Air BnB. So we picked the Historic Argo Hotel. Built 100 years ago. Beautiful decor for the era. Our night was a scene out of a horror film. Fact. They were selling haunted hotel books at the... More

We stayed overnight at the Argo Hotel on 9/16/16 (our 49th anniversary). We booked a room w/ a balcony. It was great. We were able to relax w/ our friends who also stayed at the hotel, had our anniversary dinner in the dining room--excellent food. Liked the quiet, the quaintness, antiques, etc. A wonderful time.

This beautiful old hotel is really special. My room was top notch and had a walk-in shower. The owners went way out of their way to be hospitable. A real highlight was Saturday night dinner at the hotel: the dinner and service were outstanding and I especially enjoyed the 84-year old piano player; she was just great. If you are... More

Sandy did a fabulous job with her staff entertaining our group of 14. The steak, shrimp, and desserts were delicious! The turtle cheesecake and fried ice cream were beautifully presented. The atmosphere and stories of the Historic Argo hotel made for entertaining evening. The live music on the weekends is an added bonus. Great place to go for dinner!

We had a great stay. Both Dinner and breakfast were very good. They even had live music -- talented guitar player and singer -- during dinner. Hotel is beautifully decorated in old style. Love the 2nd floor balcony -- sat outside after dinner and enjoyed the evening. We will definitely be back.

We spent one night at the Argo. The room was very comfortable and the early 1900s atmosphere was charming, but the main attraction was Sandy, the owner, who was extremely accommodating. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Historic Argo Hotel was built in 1912 to serve the railroad traffic of the time. It is located in the heart of Crofton, a small town in northeastern Nebraska on Hwy 12, also known as the Outlaw Trail. It is near Lewis and Clark Lake and Recreation Area on the Missouri River. The hotel has been restored back to its former grandeur. The exterior of this brick bed and breakfast is reminiscent of hotels of the early 1900s. Inside, transom windows over the doors, metal ceilings and a large oak staircase add to the periodic charm. Go back in time to the 1900's and imagine travelers coming into town by train from Chicago and Minneapolis/St. Paul who were then picked up by stagecoach or horse-drawn wagon to be taken to their final destination. Indulge yourself with a stay here and enjoy a taste of history. The Victorian-style rooms on the upper floor are decorated with antiques but have modern amenities. They feature free Wi-Fi, cable TV, air-conditioning and private bathrooms. All suites provide sitting areas, while most have Jacuzzi tubs and some offer full living rooms or balconies. Enjoy a delicious hot breakfast in the morning after a relaxing night's sleep. Doc's Bar and the Leslie Brooks Dining Room are open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings with menu items including steak, chicken, seafood and pasta. ... more   less
