Stopped over for wife’s 30th birthday, the team were kind enough to put us in a superb room at the front of the pub which was spacious, comfortable and had a lovely view. Nice birthday message and complimentary cake. Evening meal was delicious. All the expected safety procedures were in place for C-19. The photos on here don’t do the place justice, it’s a lovely place - especially at Christmas time.
Tasty food like nowhere else. Staff is always going a little extra when it comes about service, and the Christmas atmosphere is just like Santa is waiting to get in. Lovely place. Salmon and duck leg as starter from Christmas menu, beef bourguignon with chips instead of veggies and lamb, which were all great choices. Happily to come back.
We stayed here recently for one night and loved it. We were travelling with our two dogs and they were made very welcome here. The room was superb, well maintained, super clean and spacious. Large comfortable bed also. The lounge and bar is great, lots of space and the staff were excellent. Food was excellent, probably the largest fish and chips i have ever had for a great price. Breakfast was also excellent. I would definitely visit here again and we plan too in the future.
We had late lunch here yesterday 23rd October. Had not booked but went in on the off chance. Not been before, so we were pleasantly surprised by the decor and seating arrangements. There seemed to be only 2 staff on, and they were quite busy with the tables occupied. Had to wait a while for our main meal, but it was worth it for quality and quantity. Took a while to get dessert, and was quite nice. Covid certainly does not help these pub/restaurants, and the 2 staff coped very well, under difficult conditions. Did not get the usual ' everything okay ? question, and def needs a 'front of house' person to ensure customers feel ' wanted', and not just a number. Otherwise, no ' complaints'.
We enjoyed our stay. Our room was quite big and attractively decorated. The breakfast menu had a good choice of different cooked items and food was lovely. We had a couple of tasty evening meals. The pub was in a small village, opposite a church and surrounded by fields and was very peaceful and relaxing. Further afield it was about a half hour drive to the edge of the Peak District and close to Jodrell Bank. If we come back to the area we would certainly consider staying there again.
