Travellers' Choice
The New Inn Coleford is a quintessential old, thatched, rural English inn set in a conservation village in the green rolling hills of mid Devon between Exmoor and Dartmoor, yet is only 20 minutes drive from the beautiful, cathedral city of Exeter. It has a large car park and lovely gardens with weeping willows by a stream. You'll find King beds, large fluffy bath towels and local food delicacies.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had wanted to stay at the New Inn, Coleford ever since I had a fantastic business lunch their sometime ago. We stayed the one night, but wished we stayed longer. A fantastic location and the perfect evening by a warm fire when the Devon rain is pouring outside. We had the steak pie and chips, and the sausage and mash, washed down with a couple of pints of Devon Red (a very good local cider), both meals were piping hot and delicious. We had room 2, a decent sized room at the front of the property. Breakfast was freshly cooked and again delicious, I would recommend the individually prepared yoghurt and granola. Just to add, look out for the Captain, the very talkative 40 year old parrot that has become a permanent feature with the pub. We hope to return soon.

The New Inn used to be my ‘local’ over 40 years ago. We were staying for a week in Dorset and decided to tag on a couple of days. The room was cosy and a very comfy bed. Breakfast was excellent and was a good start for the day. The owners were very hospitable and friendly. On the last night we met with school friends and their partners at the inn. Excellent dinner and good value. Lots of stories from school days. A really good visit - Thank you.

We stayed here on a Saturday night. We arrived in mid afternoon after the pub had closed but self check-in was easy. Our room was huge with a large comfortable bed and an equally large bathroom. It overlooked the beer garden but that wasn’t an issue as we were so tired from walking The Two Moors Way. The breakfast was delicious particularly the gluten free bread, the best my hubby has tasted. We would definitely stay again.

Friendly staff (I include Captain the parrot as staff) and the food was good. Children were catered for as I had the small portion of Fish and Chips. Worth going off the A roads to get to this village.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at the New Inn, beautiful hotel/pub with bags of character situated in a lovely location. We had a lovely room and chose to eat in the pub in the evening and enjoyed a fantastic meal, it’s great to see local produce championed through the menu. Best eggs Benedict for breakfast I’ve had in years. The pub is a free house so again have local ales and ciders on tap. The owners and staff made us feel very welcome, as did ‘The Captain’ (resident parrot!). We will definitely return and this time with our dog as they’re also dog friendly. Well done New Inn!

Great little gem in the countryside with a very warm welcome. The owners were very hard working providing delicious food and an amazingly good cheese board. Bed was very comfy. The resident parrot, Captain, was quiet all evening but certainly was in good voice at breakfast, providing much amusement!

A beautiful pub with a warm welcome in a stunning setting. We greatly enjoyed our stay. Excellent simple and home made food. Delicious breakfast with obviously all local ingredients. Fantastic granola fruit and yoghurt pots. We literally couldn’t fault anything and would go back in a heartbeat.
