Gorgeous pub. Good food. Unfortunately insipid owner and lady assistant which rather coloured the atmosphere. Parrot in cage that some may find upsetting.. the building was gorgeous. The folks running it let it down.

Delicious Sunday Roast, Great Atmosphere & Service. We decided on this pub for lunch after reading all the positive reviews. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere was very lively and cheerful. The establishment was clean and well kept. Finally the food was delicious, fresh and well prepared. What a gem, we intend to make regular visits whenever we visit Devon.

I have to say the star in this pub is the parrot, you get a nice friendly hello as you walk past. We have not visited this pub allot, but the food has always been good. Our friends have said we must go back soon, as there are plenty of choices left on the menu. On a personal note being...

We had visited the New Inn at Coleford recently. We had only used the Restaurant. The food for me didn't have the wow factor. I'm guessing my experience was a one off. I ordered the Lasagne and Chips. The Lasagne was runny and not so edible. The waitress kindly changed the meal for something else. The waitress was a bit...

My husband and I spent last weekend in this wonderful 13th century inn on a return visit. The New Inn is idelic , it showcases the best of British country inns. From the thatched roof to the warming fires this is a gem not to be missed. We were brilliantly looked after by the owners George and Carol and their...

We stopped here for only one night on our trip westward. Everything was as we would have wished. The Inn has that 'Olde Worlde' charm with plenty of exposed beams. Our superior room was in fact a suite. The only disappointment was that some of the items listed on the website as examples of the menu were not available the...

A lovely Devon thatched pub/restaurant in the heart of the country. Cosy surroundings, good food and service. Parrot in a cage (Captain)!, when he's behaving himself!! A little gem well worth seeking out.

Only stopped for one night on our way to Cornwall but what a delight. The room was lovely and the bed really comfortable. The evening menu was extensive and the food very good, the breakfast the following morning was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay and would highly recommend this pub which has so much character and atmosphere.

Stayed one night in this quaint, slightly rambling very old pub. All fittings, furnishings, bed linen and room facilities were great. Breakfast was of the best ingredients beautifully prepared. Spacious car park. Well signed entry arrangements for residents.
