We stayed for one night as a treat- location and scenery is beautiful, the room- delux double, furniture tired and the most uncomfortable four poster bed- neither of us slept well, bedding was also ripped and no shampoo or conditioner provided yet a sewing kit!! Bathroom very tired and dated- and not in an in keeping way. The pool, sauna and steam room were pleasant and clean, changing rooms weren’t great, ladies smelt strongly of nappy’s. Dinner was served in Charlie’s bar, cold, no atmosphere, brightly lit and felt cafe like, not a romantic setting at all and lots of people walking through to the pool with nowhere to sit for a drink before dinner, the food was nice and staff pleasant, for a DB&B deal most items had supplements. Breakfast in the dining room was lovely- a nice room (why wouldn’t you serve dinner in there?) breakfast was lovely and made aware of a wait, very nice cooked breakfast. Hotel could be so much better with a few minor improvements.

Really enjoyable break at Waterton with my wife. Ahving managed to obtain a couple of last minute tickets for Michael McIntyre at Leeds Arena we were looking for somewhere reasonable priced not far from both Leeds and York. Waterton not only offered that but a lot more. Room :- We booked an executive double at just over £100 a night. They gave us room 75 and if booking we would thoroughly recommend it. It is located across from the main house and over looks the lake. The small car park is also just out side but the double glazing is amazing and you don’t hear a thing. It is large and spacious and nicely decorated/furnished with drapes and old styled furniture. Bed really comfortable and single radiator in the room soon warms it. The bathroom has separate roll top bath and shower and again a radiator that warms it nicely. Dining :- Food bar menu is as on the website and food cooked really nicely at really good value. Breakfast was superb with really fine cooked breakfast and nice choice. Weekends seems to be in the dining area in the accommodation block which is fine, but if you’re lucky it will be in the main house. The breakfast room is beautifully beamed room with view of the lake. Facilities :- The fact that you can dine all day in Charlie’s Bar makes it easy for all. The leisure facilities are also wonderful. Lovely pool with steam/sauna/jacuzzi overlooking the lake and countryside and a well equipped gym it a really nice extra. But also on the doorstep is the golfing. The Waterton GC offers a 300 yard driving range for non members but if you’re more keen to play the the course meanders round the Waterton hotel and have looked at the website a nice challenge for all abilities. But If walking is just for you, you are spoilt. Without having to get in the car the Barnsley canal / Penine way is on the doorstep. The leads to Haw Park Wood and lots of other routes leaving plenty of wonderful countryside to explore. Finally Staff : - We always say you can have a nice hotel but if you haven’t got the staff it does not make for a nice experience. The staff at Waterton Park Hotel are spot on. You get a really friendly welcome and nothing is to much trouble. The service we got where ever we went was a credit to Waterton Park and we will happily return again. Enjoy your stay…….we did!

We had our weddng here a few weeks ago and from start to finish Pauline and Olivia have been at hand if I had any questions for my big day at waterton Park, however small nothing was an issue. They were there with me throughout the day and did a lovely handover for the person that will be looking after us for the wedding breakfast and then for the reception. The whole staff at waterton were truly lovely and their customer service is 5 stars! The food was amazing and they made our day so magical. If I could do it all again I would chose waterton park everytime, not just for the venue but every employee that was on duty that day and helped in making our day that much more special.

Jess was absolutely brilliant- nothing was too much trouble for her. She is an excellent masseuse and beautician and gave us a fabulous family day of relaxation. She is also a delightful kind person and was very welcoming and immediately put us all at our ease .Wonderful!! Would recommend her and this lovely spa to anyone. Really good.

Had a wedding here in November 2023 and wow, it was amazing. The staff, the rooms, the scenery, the cleanliness of the whole place! It was outstanding! The whole process ran so smoothly, everyone was so so kind and very thorough. The staff were great and especially Liv who guided us through our day, and dealt with us in the lead up to the wedding. Not a thing went wrong on the day and it’s a memory to cherish forever. The food was amazing during the wedding as well as breakfast!!! Thanks so much and will definitely be back to relive memories.

Awesome location, loads of character and charm. Found the main hotel a little tired. A little maintenance needed here and there to bring up to standard. ( creaky floor boards, no grout or cracked tiles, stale smelling rooms) Fealt like we was gate crashing a couple of weddings while we was there. Maybe private guests should be kept seperate? Great pool and jacuzzi, sauna and steam room with lake views. Think the bar overlooking the pool was a bit invasive and could be made a bit more private. Room for improvement But..would visit again and recommend.

This is going to be an interesting review with what will be a very honest overview of the whole experience. It was to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary. Location - it is a bit of a journey but once you are on the right road (The Balk) then it's just a case of looking for that quirky turn onto what seems to be a private estate road. Follow that all the way down past the Golf Club and you are presented with a car park on the left. It’s a bit awkward passing oncoming vehicles. We were under the impression that the reception area was part of the building on the car park side, and it does have a reception, but this was closed (16.00) and a notice was saying to cross the bridge to check in at Walton Hall. We had booked a Deluxe Double room, so maybe these are located at Walton Hall. Having walked across the bridge, which was absolutely amazing with lake views, etc., we got inside. Lee at reception was very friendly and got us checked in, no problem. We were given Room 1 and she even walked us through Charley's Bar (Restaurant) to where our room was located. Up 3 stairs and down the end of a short corridor is Room 1. You open the door and are greeted with a huge king-size bed (extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows), and the lakeside view through big windows, one of which opens to the juliette balcony. The windows have black out curtains. The room - bed has two bedside tables with drawers and lamps. Artwork is very much in line with the room. Power points everywhere, but no USB points. There is a TV on a stand with remote that didn't work. I had to operate the TV with the TV buttons. This is the bedroom part. Then you walk into your "lounging" area overlooking the lake. This area has a huge wardrobe with an iron and ironing board and a big stand-up fan for the summer. At the far corner are the tea/coffee making facilities. Two chairs to look out at the lake with coffee table. Then there is the dressing table with drawers and a big mirror that has its own lamp. If you want to watch the second TV (yes, there are two), then you need to turn the chairs round to watch it. We didn’t watch this one, so I don’t know whether it worked or not. Going back to the bed part of the room and through to the bathroom. This is huge. The first thing you see is the sink with mirror that has its own lights. Then the ample bath with lake views. The toilet is there next to the window. Window has a pull down blind. Then there’s the huge shower compartment. You have a choice of 3 types. Hand-held shower, 3 shower jets that come straight at you or the rain shower. We loved the jets. You have toiletries, shower cap and sewing kit. We reported that the sink wasn’t taking away the water and this was fixed in a jiffy. We don’t like complaining. In this case, we couldn’t really, as our two-night stay with breakfast and dinner only cost us £225.00 thanks to Booking.com. However, in Room 1, there are some bad stains on the carpet. This might be a case of people taking walks and bringing in mud and other stuff. But I would think that some people paying full wack for a room at £165 per night would be a bit upset seeing the stains (maybe). Also, the room lighting is very good around the bed area but the “lounging area only has spotlights and the mirror lamp. Making a drink in the dark corner wasn’t very good. The bathroom again has spotlights and mirror lights. There are blue lights showing the small step up into the shower area, which are adequate as night lights. Maybe, the bathroom needed to be a brighter colour than black. There is not a problem with the room in terms of heating. Very warm both nights in late October. My wife used the indoor pool and sauna. All good there. There is a gym as well. I had a facial with a neck and shoulder massage across the bridge at the ESPA spa. I was looked after by Chloe who was great. I had a robe and slippers waiting for me. Lockers as well. Then after the session, I could lounge in the relaxing room. I had a scone waiting for me after at the restaurant as part of their Spa offer. My Spa session was £59.00. Check their Facebook for offers. This building has more rooms and function rooms. The food – breakfast was in the dining area at the side of reception. Huge area. Sophie was in charge. Very nice girl indeed. All the staff were super friendly. Tea / coffee to start and then a choice from the middle table of cereals, yoghurts, croissants, fruits, juices. There is a hot food menu that a member of staff takes your order from and I certainly recommend the vegetarian breakfast and my wife had salmon on toast. Nice, varied dinner menu with gluten free options as well as others. Staff again super nice. Only a small area compared to breakfast. The pizza is amazing. Huge bowl of mussels. Very good burger. The desserts were great. I had the bread and butter pudding. Drinks were a nice price. Even the tea. Only £2.90 for a pot. There is seating outside for the summer, and it would have been special to sit outside looking out over the lake. Good for a bit of bird watching and looking at the golfers going round. We totally enjoyed every second here and would do it again in a heartbeat at the same price or near to it. We will be keeping our eyes peeled for any offers.

We got married at Waterton Park Hotel recently and couldn't recommend it more. It was fantastic from start to finish. From the initial visit to just look around, the wedding co-ordinators couldn't have been more helpful. No question went unanswered, nothing was too much trouble. The day itself was perfect. Pauline and Olivia were there making sure everything went to plan, including sorting out an issue with my slippy shoes..thank you ladies x Other members of staff step up at different points to move the celebrations along. All of them were brilliant and added to the day. Sorry we didn't take note of any names, but thank you all. The food was excellent and the surroundings were stunning. We stayed for 3 nights, the night prior to the wedding in Room 7 and then 2 nights in the bridal suite and it was bliss. Just wish we could do it all over again ❤️

The location was spectacular and the room was extremity massive and well decorated. There was a kettle and excellent selection of beverages and complimentary water. There was an excellent swimming pool, sauna, steam room and spa pool. However, while this had a great view of the lake, this was over looked by the bar and cafe, so not so private. The drinks were excellent, but the food in the resturant was average. The breakfast had an excellent selection of fruit and cereals and the menus for the full English was impressive, however this was let down by the ingredients being dried out despite coming from the kitchen tater than a buffet. All the components were dry, with the exception of the bacon and the poached egg was overdone. The staff were extremely attentive, polite, friendly and helpful. The bed could do with a new mattress or at least a topper adding. A bar fridge would have been useful for cold drinks. They supped still and sparking water. Lovely relaxing oasis and I would visit again!
