Pauntley Court must be one of the most enchanting houses in which to stay. It is said to be the birthplace of Dick Whittington, who travelled from here to become Lord Mayor of London four times over. Pauntley Court has beautiful formal gardens and is situated in a stunning position. The village of Pauntley is on the edge of the Cotswolds, two and half hours drive from London. Mark and Melissa offer luxurious private hire accommodation for family gatherings and special occasions in the main house, the wing of the main house (Elinor Fettiplace) and The Dovecote, sleeping up to 24 guests. We also offer weekend weddings from 30 up to 150 guests. Pauntley Court is a unique and magical place to come and relax and enjoy the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside away from the strains of modern day life.

We have just returned from a three night stay at Pauntley Court for my father’s 90th birthday. We were a mixed ages large group and we all had the most amazing time. This house is just beautiful - it has been very sympathetically and tastefully maintained and restored and everything has been considered. All the bedrooms are beautifully and individually decorated with beautiful linen and towels and lovely toiletries in the bathrooms. The house is large but has very comfortable and cosy rooms and great for a larger group for everyone to find a little quiet place if needed! The kitchen is very homely and has the most extensive selection of china, cutlery glasses and cooking equipment. The grounds are amazing too, and although storm Bert prevented us being outside I can imagine it to be the most wonderful place to explore in drier weather. The owner,Melissa, was extremely welcoming and went above and beyond to help our family when we were surrounded by flooded lanes and trying to negotiate a route out to make an international flight. We were extremely grateful to her and her husband for their help that night. Rachel was also very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I really can’t recommend this property more - we can’t wait to return!

We had a fantastic 3 night stay early February in the Dovecote, set in a beautiful rural location but with good road links to visit the Cotswolds and Cheltenham. After looking at the photos on the website it’s even more delightful in real life. So much charm and character and plenty of space for four adults. Two gorgeous big bedrooms with very comfy beds and modern en suites. A cosy living room with log burner and kitchen area equipped with everything you may need. Thank you for the little touches Melissa, a generous hamper, fresh flowers and the new experience of an electric blanket to warm the bed on a cold February night! An amazing place to stay.

We booked Pauntley Court for our intimate wedding weekend in June 2022 and we regret nothing! The venue is beyond beautiful with lovely, well kept gardens. The rooms are also very impressive, all individually decorated with their own character. All our guests commented throughout the wedding and since returning home about how lovely the venue was. Unfortunately, we weren't able to have our wedding outside as planned, thanks to the great British weather, but the team at Pauntley were so responsive, attentive and caring about swapping round our decorations to move us inside. We want to make a special mention to Rachel, who helped us throughout the weekend to keep the house clean and tidy and also cooked us an amazing breakfast on the Sunday morning. Also a big thank you to Rebecca and Melissa who were also fantastic, ensuring our day was perfect throughout. If you want a unique wedding venue, that no one will forget, book Pauntley court! We had our intimate wedding at Pauntley Court in mid-September 2020. Melissa and her team went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly under these unusual circumstances. The whole weekend could not have been more perfect. The house and gardens are the most incredible place to have an intimate wedding and reception. Our guests enjoyed it just as much as we did. We made full use of the guest rooms in the main house, which are beautifully presented and very comfortable. We also had guests staying in the Dovecote and Elinor Fettiplace, which are separate to the main house with their own kitchens and bathrooms. The gardens are superb with an amazing stretch tent, which is perfect for sitting under no matter what the weather. Together with the surrounding countryside they make the perfect setting for a wedding and have resulted in some wonderful wedding photos! We are running out of superlatives to describe Pauntley Court. All that is left to say is that you would be hard pressed to find a better venue for a small, intimate wedding and reception. We cannot wait to return.

We hired Pauntley Court last weekend for my 50th birthday celebration with friends. We all had a ball! The house and grounds are truly beautiful and yet comfortable and intimate for gathering with close friends and family. The vast kitchen is fully equipped with everything that could possibly be needed, including plenty of champagne flutes and a large Aga that invites generous cooking for a crowd. Melissa responded quickly to various queries and put us in touch with fantastic caterers for Saturday night dinner in the splendid ball room! Our guests all loved their rooms, which perfectly suited the needs of individuals and families to be sociable but also have space to withdraw and luxuriate in the bath or gaze out at the wonderful views. We were even blessed with a bright sunny Saturday morning to go out for a walk. Cannot imagine a more perfect venue for such an occasion and we all (all 24 of us!) hope to return one day.

We had our intimate Covid wedding reception at Pauntley Court. Melissa the owner was extremely helpful when we tried to plan this reception for 20 family members and she reassuringly observed all the government guidelines. The whole experience was so special from start to finish in the most elegant of surroundings! The house and grounds were pristine and we couldn’t have imagined a more beautiful venue for our reception! We were so happy we booked Pauntley and would highly recommend it without hesitation for the most magical day. Our memory of it will last a life time!

My family and I have just spent New Year in the main house and it was wonderful. All the rooms are enormous with huge bedrooms and bathrooms and views to die for. It was warm and comfortable, with everything you could think of especially in the well stocked kitchen. We made good use of the lovely grounds, tennis court and walks, returning to the huge open fire to play games in the evenings. The huge dining room was fabulous for our New Year’s Eve dinner and we even managed some dancing. This house would be wonderful for a wedding and we hope to come back again.

Stayed in the Dovecote this weekend with our dear friends as a half way meeting place. The house is absolutely fabulous, everything in there is the best quality including the luxurious towels and bed linen not to mention the White Stuff toiletries. You are greeted by the lovely owner who provides an amazing hamper to start you off. The whole place is very comfortable and I cannot recommend it highly enough. We will definitely be going back.

Summer holiday for an extended family of 13. I cannot imagine a more exquisite house and charming owners. The house was just beautifully furnished - well worn and sophisticated. The gardens are some of the best I have seen in a private house and well thought out spaces for reading, napping, playing croquet or just chatting with a drink meant each of us could do whatever we wanted at whatever pace we wanted. We had grand plans to explore the area, but we just couldn’t get ourselves to leave. Perfect country house.

We stayed in the Dovecote for a blissful three days. It was well appointed, comfortable and warm. Owner very welcoming. Set in nice countryside with some nice walks and plenty of places to eat in the area.
