My wife and I stayed at the Back Side Inn during the beginning of leaf season in New Hampshire. The inn is in a very nice, wooded location. Fairly convenient to Mt. Sunapee if you're going skiing. Our room (the Red, White and Blue room) was very comfortable and clean. The innkeeper, Anne, is super friendly and helpful. She gave... More

Upon arrival we were greeted by Annie, the owner and inn keeper of the Back Side Inn. This quaint and comfortable Inn is on a beautiful property close to Sunapee Mountain and the lake-which makes it a terrific spot for all seasons. The 10 room cozy home has old world charm, clean and comfortable rooms and a lovely common area.... More

I was searching for a place to put up my fiancee, myself and my daughter, her boyfriend, and my grand daughter. The trip had been planned to include my 10 yr old grand daughter, but she was killed by a hit and run driver just 2 months before the visit was to happen. We got the rooms at the Back... More

My son and I stayed at the Back Side for almost a week, so that my son could attend a nearby day camp. Never have I stayed in a B&B or inn with a more accomodating host! Even before our arrival, Annie wanted to know what we liked to eat, and when she learned that I'm a vegan, she went... More

We were more than pleased with our most recent stay at the Backside. We got a comfortable room and a fantastic breakfast the next morning, cooked to order by the most personable proprietor, Anne. Her open and welcoming spirit made our stay feel more like visiting a family member than some random, impersonal hotel. The inn is roomy and comfortable... More

Went there to eat. Didn't stay at Inn. Food was bland. All the different Italian dishes in the buffet tasted the same. Internet price has gone up without the owner changing the price on the web. Was promised a refund for the difference; never got it. Also, beware: dessert costs extra. Not included.

Went for a weekend of skiing at Mount Sunapee, and was completely shocked by the quality of food provided. Anne the Innkeeper used to work on as a high-level chef for a number of years and provides fresh cooked gourmet dinners, with a great, unexpected level of variety. Additionally, the complimentary breakfast will sate and satisfy your appetite well into... More

Ann the owner and Chef is delightful and very eager to please. The rooms are quite affordable and decent but need some updating. The homespun atmosphere and good food make it well worth while. Don't expect 4 star luxury but to be treated like one of the family. Also BYOB and grab your own snacks and coffee anytime - so cool. There... More

My wife and I traveled to Washington, New Hampshire, for a small re-union with some of her college roommates. Washington, NH, is a VERY small community located roughly in the center of New Hampshire, in a remote area. There are few hotels/motels/restaurants in the area, unless one wishes to travel to Lake Suppanee (sp?), resort area. Luckily, we found the... More

My husband and daughter recently arranged a dinner for my birthday at the Backside Inn. We had 14 guests and were treated to a fantastic dinner prepared by Chef Anne. We were greeted by a roaring fire in the parlor and served appetizers and then moved into the dinning area for a salad course followed by an Italian buffet of... More

“We like corner rooms for bright sun. There was a TV in our room but we didn't use it as we felt comfortable downstairs reading or playing cards by the fire. If you plan to eat in their dining room, let Ann know in advance she is happy to work out a menu with you.”

“Not every room has a TV, so if thats important to you (one way or another), make sure you ask if the room has it... Based on experience with a few rooms, the rooms towards the back of the house have better views and are less noisy from road traffic (theres not much traffic at all, but when a garbage truck drives by, you really dont want to hear it)”
