Stayed in August for a wedding. Booked a month in advance. Got stuck across the street not even a view of the lake for over $275. Awoke about 2 am to partiers and then I can only imagine what was going on when it seemed like the room was being arranged overhead for a few

Our family visits the Margate Resort every year in July. The resort has everything and more to offer and is the only full service hotel in the area. The property is lakefront with a tiki bar that serves delicious food. There are chaise lounges available, kayaks, canoes, and

..you'll need to ask what view your room has, parking lot or beautiful lake view. Very large hotel/resort. Many amenities are open to the public, not a plus for paying guests. Accommodations are great, except for their extremely hard beds, throughout the entire hotel. For that

Thank you for taking the time to review the resort, we would like to start by apologizing for not meeting your expectations. We agree, The Margate is a very large property. We have four buildings and sixteen different room types varying from lake view rooms to rooms located across the street from the water. We highly recommend calling us directly to help you book your stay. You will always receive the best rate possible when you do and our staff has the most knowledge of the property. It is our duty to help you book the room that best suits your needs. The only amenities available for the public is the Gazebo Beach Bar and our indoor pool is open to local residents only for a small daily fee. They have to provide us with proof of residency and must pay a fee before allowed access to the pool. Our sandy beach is private and for hotel guests only. We are pleased to hear that you felt the accommodations were great and want you to know we are currently working on upgrading some of the older style mattresses. We appreciate the feedback you provided and hope you will give us another chance to show you a great experience.

We stayed two nights at the Margate in mid-October. The service was friendly and efficient. The room was clean and the king bed very comfortable. This is an older resort but neat and well-kept. The room was smallish and the bathroom older; but all in all it was fine. The room

Thank you for being our guest and sharing your experience! We are delighted to read that you were pleased with your stay and that the service we provided was friendly and efficient. As you mentioned in your review, we do not have microwaves in the guest rooms, but we have a microwave located in our Amenities Building that is accessible 24 hours for our guest’s convenience. Unfortunately, due to the Shoreland Water Quality Protection Act under the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, we are restricted to what trees we are allowed to remove within 250’ from the protected shoreline. However the trees do provide a benefit with nice shady areas around our beach which is very helpful during the hot summer months. We appreciate you taking the time to review our resort and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back again soon.

My husband and I stayed here whilst visiting the White Mountains in ‘the fall’ It is situated on a beautiful lake and has the most wonderful views from their own sandy beach and is an idyllic spot for sunset. We were however upset by the large quantity of disposable plastic

Thank you for taking the time to post a review of your stay. It is with great gratification to hear how much you enjoyed the scenery from our beach. The Margate Resort is very fortunate to be located in such a picturesque area. We appreciate you voicing your concerns about our disposable cutlery that is used for the continental breakfast. We value all the feedback you offered. It is our goal to provide each guest with the best experience possible, so we will be considering your comments when making changes to our continental breakfast.

Hi, Sorry to take so long to answer but your message was just discovered by me today! To answer, while the grounds are very well taken care of & the location is great, the rooms have not had the same care and are dated and tired. We have experienced this all too often at tourist destinations so I carry a tool kit to fix the room. But for our room here I had to call for help as the screen to the sliding door had been punched open all along the spline. Maintenance had to remove the door totally to restore the screen and we had to stay until he was finished or pack up our lap-tops, etc. Deferred maintenance is evident but not totally disqualifying on the lake as to escape this means big $$ up in the Mills Falls complex in Meredith. If $$ is in your budget, I would recommend there as that's where I used to stay when I was in the lakes on business.

Hello, are you talking about The Sundial Shop, a small store in between a KMart and a Star Market in a strip mall nearby? That is the only Christmas type store I remember in the immediate area. If so, that store has been gone for a long time now. That strip mall was demolished and replaced around 1999 or 2000 with a different strip mall containing a Hannafords supermarket, a Papa Gino's pizza restaurant, and a Lowe's home improvement store. Unfortunately The Sundial Shop no longer exists. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact us at 1-800-MARGATE.

Hello, the outdoor pool is kept open based on the weather and temperature. But usually it is open until October. In September after Labor Day, the Beach Bar is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 11am until 9pm, weather permitting. Thank you for considering The Margate.

We used to have jetskis several years ago, but not anymore. We do have kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards for rent right on our main beach. We also can recommend a nearby jetski rental business, and if you mention The Margate you will receive a discount from them. We can provide you with that jetski information upon check-in. Thank you!
