Liar liar pants on fire! This dishonest hotel does not handle their mistakes properly at all, and this was a BIG one. My mother in law traveled by plane to our home, then the next day we drove her and our two children 4 hours to this hotel. I booked two rooms for Our August trip all the way back in February. A Saturday night and Sunday night Leave on Monday. Upon arrival first you should know there are no parking tags for your car. So good luck getting a spot. There is a restaurant on site, so anyone can park in their parking lot. When I went to the front desk the woman said she found only one room under my name. I booked both rooms and paid for them in full on the same day at the same time in February. It wasn’t until I showed my reservation confirmation proving my reservation of both rooms for the same dates that Eventually the second receptionist (front desk manager), said she found it but get this….she said someone called 3 days prior to our trip and changed the date for one of the rooms. She said someone changed it so instead of checking in on Saturday, one of the rooms were only available from Sunday -Tuesday!!! Obviously this was a huge mistake on their part. There would be no reason for us to move our date one day for just one room leaving our mother in law roomless for a night. We asked her who called, and she said she didn’t know. When she read my email and phone number back to me they were not my email or phone number!!! She then tried to pretend she was on the wrong page lol. Obviously someone with the same last name changed their date and they changed our room instead. Eventually after a lot of back and forth and me showing her the confirmation she admitted it was an error on their part with no apology. She went on to tell us that their hotel was booked. We had ONE room now with two beds for my husband and I, my two sons and my handicapped mother in law. She Went behind a closed door to talk to a manager (which never spoke to us face to face at any point), and came out with a terrible solution. She told us she would send my mother in law to one of their other hotels in SHIP BOTTOM for the night lol. My mother in law has a cane and can hardly walk, but we were suppose to (at 5pm after traveling), drive her all the way to ship bottom, check her in, carry her luggage in, set her up, drive back to our room get set up, then keep driving her back and forth that night as needed. Then we were expected to pick her up in the morning help her walk to the car so we could now go about our day then check her out at 11 pack her stuff back in our car and check back into the spray beach when her room would be ready on the second night. What a horrible solution. I explained that’s not going to work. I told the front desk that they can give us a cot, and she will have to sleep on it in our room for the night. Another terrible option but since they gave our room away that night I didn’t have much of a choice. I let them know that this is completely unacceptable and I will be expecting compensation for both nights for my mother in laws room. Perfectly understandable? Nope. Can you believe these people tried to just give the money back for the one night? Of course they had to give us the money back for one night, we didn’t get a room!! What about for our major hassle and inconvenience? Not one “sorry”, not one comp, nothing. My husband spent now more time on the phone on our nightmare vacation talking to hotels dot com where we made the reservation. They put us on hold while they spoke to our hotel, came back on the phone and assured us we would be fully compensated for both nights for the one room. We went about our vacation as usual and tried to make the best of a terrible situation. The day we checked out we asked for receipts for both of our rooms. They printed out a receipt for the one room then said “no charge for the second room”. When we got home I check my bank account for the refunds but saw they only refunded one room then added more charges to my card. Can you believe it took two more weeks of us calling them where they tried lying AGAIN and again. They said they never agreed to the second night compensation. We asked for a hotel manager numerous times and never got one. The front desk manager refused to let us talk to a hotel manager saying that person wasn’t available every time we asked. Eventually after two weeks the very dishonest front desk manager yelled at my husband saying you’ll get your refund! As if we did something wrong. You might get lucky and not have this exact problem, but just know, if you do have an issue, they will NOT make it right.

Don’t let the renovations fool you, it’s the equivalent of putting lipstick on a pig! The bed is directly next to the AC unit (like 6 inches apart) and blows cold air directly on you. After our first night, we noticed all of our towels, bathing suits, and even the shower from post pool were still soaking wet. The room felt “wet” and very humid. My husband went to the front desk and reported the issue before we went to the pool for the day. He was told someone would call him to review the issues we reported. No one called, and when we returned back to our room we found our AC off and heat turned on to 85! We immediately called the front desk and the manager called us back. Sharon was as helpful as an angry hornet, and as friendly as one also! We discussed our issues with her, she took zero accountability and did not apologize for any inconvenience. We asked for compensation for the previous nights issues and she said no. She offered breakfast which we explained we were leaving too early in the AM to utilize. She said that was the best she could do. Not everyone should have a career in hospitality, and after learning this hotel is owned/managed by the same company as Holiday Inn LBI I can say this seems to be their culture - guest service means nothing and all they want is money. Spending $600+/night doesn’t matter to them! We had bugs in the room, hair in the shower, hair on the clean towels we needed to request consistently because nothing dried! Lastly, their welcome letter says they don’t check in under 25 or allow smoking on the entire site. Both nights there was a group of young adults smoking weed outside our room until 3 am each night, and people were smoking on the pool deck. One of the worst hotel experiences we’ve ever had. If I could give a lower score I would.

The Spray Beach Inn is a very pretty and cute hotel with a modern beach vibe. The pool has plenty of lounge chairs. There is direct access to the beach. The staff was helpful and professional. I would definitely stay here again. The rates are steep as are most hotels on LBI.

Lovely hotel with pool and an on-site restaurant. Wish the pool was bigger and maybe the temperature a little cooler . The workers were very nice. A suggestion that I can give is there should be a water cooler by bar or pool. I felt bad I had to keep going to the bar for ice water since it was very hot the few days I was there. The pool door should lock kids can easily get in without a problem. Would definitely return .

We have been staying at the Spray Beach Inn for a number of years. The renovations were very clean and new. * Previously, the bed was on the opposite wall, now the bed is directly in front of the AC unit that blows on the sleepers all night. * There was no exhaust fan added to the bathroom to preserve the upgrades. * The new closet is too small. * There were ants in the room. * The toilet seat was broken. * Requested room 410 in March but it was given to someone else that checked in after us and checked out before us?????? How does that happen???? * Not sure about animals? Pretty disappointed and may not return!!

My wife and I have enjoyed staying at the Spray Beach Hotel in North Beach Haven on Long Beach Island, New Jersey for the past FIFTY YEARS. We've always been impressed with the regular improvements to the place over the years, and the new owners recently renovated the lobby and dining room with plans to completely renovate all of the rooms beginning in October 2022. We can't wait to see the latest enhancements next season! Our favorite room has always been a large King bed on the third floor with breathtaking sunrise views from the window and balcony overlooking the dunes and ocean which is only a few meters away. We also get a lot of use from the fridge & microwave. At the end of the day, we always enjoy the pool and hot tub to relax and watch the sunsets over the bay. The new owners recently added free "Cruiser" bikes, so for the first time in 50 years we didn't have to haul our bikes there. Steve, Kim and Jamie at the front desk were always very friendly and accommodating! We especially appreciated their efforts to watch for a cancellation, so we were able to stay for an extra night on Friday. All of the housekeeping and pool staff also were very friendly and dedicated to providing outstanding service!

The pool and proximity to the beach are great, But the rooms need a serious revamp. The beds were horrible, with the thinnest, oldest, mattress I've ever spelt on. Basically everything in the room was outdated. The Tv was probably the first flat screen made. Also, nothing looked wiped down. The fridge, bathroom and table all need a good scrubbing. Lastly, I stayed for 5 nights, there is no room cleaning because of covid but at least have fresh towels and garbage liners delivered daily. I had to go find someone and ask every morning. For over $400 a night I expect better.

The owners have added tasteful and beautiful touches to the hotel. However every employee we came across had an attitude especially the women at front desk. My family of 14 spent thousands of dollars over the 4 days were there and the best employee was the gentleman who closed the pool at night. My mom fell in the lobby and not a single of the 4 employees offered to help. I had a hair in my French toast and just asked for another one only to receive my 3 untouched halves back on a new plate. Then when 3 others found hairs we decided not to say anything because the waiter said the cook was mad at me for sending it back! If the new owners and employees (including their children) can work on smiling and being a bit more polite to people who are choosing to spend their hard earned money here, I’d give this place a 4. They are cheap on portions and very light handed at the bar, and asking $3 for coffee when a guest is spending $500 a night, improve that and you’d have a 5. The addition of chairs and bikes was awesome, thank you for doing that!

Disgusting hotel, do not stay here! I stayed at the hotel on 6/26-6/27. I was supposed to checkout on 6/28 but we had to check out early due to the unsanitary condition in our unit. For starters, the unit had a moldy/mildew smell. We had a problem with our air conditioning emitting an extremely high screeching noise every few minutes. I contacted the front desk at 7 pm to notify them that the air conditioning unit was not functioning properly and making a very loud screeching noise. I was told that a maintenance worker would be at my unit in 30 minutes. 2 1/2 hours later a maintenance worker showed up. In the interim, I had also notified the front desk to let them know we had a significant ant infestation in the bathroom. The maintenance worker showed up at a time when my family was sleeping and could not do the repairs needed. He also intended on spraying the toxic chemical ROUND UP in the bathroom to treat the ants. Round Up cannot be used indoors and is meant for treating weeds, it also happens to be toxic. I shudder at the thought that he may have sprayed it earlier if we were not in the unit. I was very upset that he thought that was a solution to the problem. Due to the issues with the AC unit, we were forced to sleep through the night without air conditioning which is obviously extremely uncomfortable. To make matters worse, my 3 and 5 year old complained that there were itchy in the middle of the night and we turned on the light to now see that there were ants in the bed and on their body. I would not expect for these instances to happen in a lower cost hotel let alone a hotel that costs over $300 a night. I complained to the front desk person and was assured a manager would contact me which never happened.
