The Glenegedale House is a perfect place to stay while exploring Islay. We stayed in a front room - comfortable and a nice view. The hosts are welcoming and gracious. We have the memorable Seafood Platter for dinner one night - everything was sourced locally. The breakfast oatmeal with local Scotch was amazing.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our visit to Islay, how I wish I could have stayed longer. This guesthouse is beautiful and we stayed in one of the rooms downstairs with a garden view. Our room was beautifully decorated with super comfortable beds, fluffy pillows and doonas. We were welcomed by the hosts Emma & Graeme, who took extremely good care of us and our friends. The guesthouse has several lounge areas to enjoy and have a pre-dinner drink. The gin & whiskey menus are impressive. Breakfast was delicious with hot food made to order. The attention to detail is impressive. Dinner on arrival was simply amazing made with fresh local seafood. As they (unfortunately, but well deserved) have Sunday nights off, they booked us for dinner at a local pub. Emma & Graeme gave us lots of good advice of things to see on the island. You need a car to get around or you can hire a taxi. Thank you for such a memorable stay and your delicious food. 2 nights is not enough.

We stayed in the picturesque hotel with 6 friends. It was just fantastic. Very nice and clean with the friendliest owners. They served us a very nice breakfast and diner. Freshly catched seafood in the morning was the same evening on our plates or a very nice duck if you don't like seafood. A good whisky collection is also available. I can strongly recommend this hotel when you're in Islay.

I can not thank Emma and Graeme for the phenomenal experience that we had on Islay. I will be staying here as often as possible! The atmosphere, hospitality, company, and accommodation were spectacular. We immensely enjoyed the food, including the seafood platter and the incredible breakfast. Don’t miss out on either! Every little detail was thought of and nothing could have been better than our stay at Glenegedale house. The location is immediate to the airport, but centrally located on the island. I never felt far from anywhere, but always felt beautifully secluded (I didn’t even realize the airport was right there until a day later!). Again, STAY HERE! An phenomenon of beauty and care!

We stayed here for 2 nights in August of 2023. It was superb. The hosts were very communicative and helpful. When staying at the property, they are friendly and offer excellent service while making one feel at home. We were in room 4 on the first floor for which we had the option to use as one king or two twin beds. We requested 2 twins because of my blanket stealing habit, and upon arrival, I was happy to see it was as requested, complete with chocolates in the room, and the offer of tea or coffee. The room was cosy and very comfortable. It had a private bath with a towel heater and shower. The room had plenty of space to store clothing within a nice, large wardrobe. The beds and pillows are also very comfortable. Their breakfast was amazing. At seating, we had beautiful muffins, yogurt with a variety of fruits, and orange juice. They have a varied tea selection and coffee. Porridge is also available before your main breakfast selection. The menu selection all looked delicious and it didn't disappoint. They do serve dinner as well, but not every day of the week, so we were not able to enjoy their dinner, but if it was anything like the breakfast, I'm sure it was delicious. They serve a seafood platter that looks remarkable. In the evening, they have a menu of different whiskeys, gins, and wines. We each had flight the first night which was a perfect way to end a long day of traveling. Some tips: The heated towel holder cycles on and off. We thought we had done something to turn it off which was not the case. The shower (for us Americans), was difficult at first; it was cycling between very hot and very cold water. Once we figured it out, we were able to have a lovely hot shower. The key is to turn the temperature dial up by only about 1/3. Then the unit was able to maintain a consistent temperature. The ONLY negative I would point out is that the wifi is sometimes inconsistent. Sometimes it was very stable, and at other times it booted both of us off about every 5 minutes. All in all, I highly recommend this beautiful property, and if I ever come back to Islay, I will certainly stay here again.

KarenH thank you for your fantastic review. We are so happy that you enjoyed your short stay with us (it nearly didn't happen as you had forgotten to book the ferry) thankfully I managed to prompt you and you secured a reservation all be it not when you wanted it which meant you missed dinner on the first evening of your stay. We make sure all guests who are staying and have booked in plenty time for menus going out get the chance to stay unless they have chosen to book a letter ferry and not tell us. We are sorry you missed out on the seafood platter but we are looking forward to sharing it with you should you come back to visit. We are absolutely delighted you enjoyed your room, the breakfasts and the help we gave you throughout the stay. The wifi is different in the guest area than in your room so you get it strong where ever you are...did you manage to log on to both...the password is in your room. Hopefully that was all it was. The shower like all new showers in the UK has an anti scald system to that if you turn it up quickly to its highest temp it goes cooler to prevent you burning yourself by accident. You are absolutely right turning it up as far as you like slightly slower means you get the exact temp you wish to enjoy. You booked a twin room and we are delighted you are happy that is what you got. We never change the beds from king to twin it is not possible. We have two king rooms and two twin rooms and we only ever give you the room you have chosen on line. Room four is our cosiest room which folks love. We hope you have a wonderful onward journey and rest of your holiday Haste ye back Graeme and Emma

We can’t recommend Glenegedale House highly enough! The food for both dinners and breakfasts was outstanding and the best on our trip to Islay. Accommodations were lovely and experienced such kindness and hospitality during our stay. It is conveniently located across the street from the Islay Airport in a beautiful landscape.

Sensational stay- as 2 couples who like to travel to quality accommodation we were thrilled with our choice. The house is very tastefully decorated with everything you would wish for. 3 Nights for us was perfect- must had at least 2 full days. If you can book in for the seafood meal- dont miss it. Emma was able to tell us who caught what/where and when it was landed. Could not have been fresher. We were a little unsure of the location but once on the island found it to be so central making most of the Distilleries easily accessible. Grahame and Emma are fantastic hosts- a wealth of local information, passionate about Islay and Jura with a great sense of humour. Would highly recommend to all Many thanks again

An absolutely wonderful experience. Emma and Graeme are consummate hosts, and their beautiful house feels authentic, warm and welcoming. They're both founts of knowledge about the island, and gave us great recommendations for which tours/guides to search out at the various distilleries. They also put together an incredible fresh seafood platter for dinner one night, an experience that we're still recovering from ;) Overall I would highly recommend their guesthouse, and very much hope we can make it back again to Islay and Glenegedale House soon.
