Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The beds are so soft you melt right into it and fall asleep really fast. Especially after a night of walking up and down the boardwalk. The pool is great, clean and always a friendly atmosphere. Every night & morning you see someone cleaning the grounds and testing the water.

We go every Father’s Day weekend for a soccer tournament. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff is amazing, The pool is great size and very clean! The bar and restaurant attached to the hotel is great addition, makes grabbing a bite or a drink while hanging poolside so easy.

Room was clean except for a bit of sand on the tile floor. But you have that at the beach! Linens/beds were clean, no sign of bedbugs. Shower had new tile surround and water pressure was great. Would have been perfect if the window blinds werent broken and came down to cover the window!!! Had to use a plastic bag on window so i didnt show everyone my goods! Continually received 2 washcloths although there were 3 of us! It was a basic room but was really just a place to sleep. The pool and bar on the property were great things to have!! Front desk and other staff were kind and considerate.

We stayed for a weekend to enjoy the Halloween events on the boardwalk. The hotel is close to the beach and boardwalk. The room was surprisingly large and very clean. When we walked in, the microwave was on and we couldn't turn it off. I told the woman at the front desk and she had someone immediately swap out the broken microwave for a working one. It was too cold to use the pool but it looked very large. I would definitely go back in season to really enjoy the place.

+First time stayed only a day and a half. We liked the Motel and people, but caught bad weather. So we never got to get in that beautiful pool. We just went there for our 38th Wedding Anniversary September 17th and left on September 20th. We loved it so much I told the owner we would be making plans Oct. 1st for a family vacations for 2022. Well worth the money and a Military discount! Thank you! See you next year from the Casdia family!

Beware of "free" wifi. I had to work for part of the time my fam was on vacation. The wifi in the room would not pick up a signal. They offered to change to a room closer to the hub. Wifi still wouldn't work in the new room. Wifi didn't work in the attached restaurant either. The owner of the facility DENIED that there was any issue with the internet and claimed it worked, even after showing her broadband test results of 0.9 MBPS. The only place the wifi worked was in the main office. I spent about 5-6 hours of my time there uncomfortably sitting in the motel main office trying to work on my laptop while the owner and staff gave me dirty looks and other customers milled in and out. No one offered a partial refund or even expressed the least bit of remorse for the broken wifi. Room was clean, but the common areas smelled like weed. Pool was crowded and you couldn't sit on on the lounge chairs without getting regularly splashed by people in the pool. Stay far away.

This was our first visit to Seaside Heights. Very impressed with the Hershey Motel. Spent some time chatting with the owner and his son John who does all the maintenance at the motel. We stayed in room 32. Very clean and seemed updated! Full size beds which we’re comfortable. Pool area was great! Throughout the visit we had noticed staff members walking around the property sweeping and keeping things tidy. The bar and the bartender was impressive as well. Location was perfect!!! I’m so glad we chose the Hershey motel and will definitely book our next stay there!!!

If chain hotels are what you’re used to, this place won’t be for you. If you’re willing to go with the flow, this place is doable. We stayed for four nights on a last minute trip to the shore. I’m familiar with seaside and know there are no good hotel/motel places to stay (and many Airbnb’s require a weeks stay). Hershey is always recommended on the seaside social media group I’m in, so I went with it. I was a little taken aback when we first got there. The grounds/building exterior appeared dirty and unkept, and our room (far building) felt so outdated. A gaggle of mismatched furniture (desk, dresser, table, two large garbage barrels) was lined up against one wall, and a dining table with two mismatched metal patio chairs were next to the beds. All of the “amenities” - like the soap, towels, bed linens and shower curtains, were of the cheapest quality. The room was almost overwhelmingly big compared to the small beds and strange furniture setup. It wasn’t cozy or inviting, but I guess I kind of expected that. There’s a lot of stairs- but there are many walk-up ground level rooms. Yes, it was like spring break at the pool 24/7. Loud, crowded and it seemed like every guest was smoking cigs or joints or vaping without regard for others. Not the classiest of clientele, but let’s be real- we’re in seaside. No one bothered me and considering how difficult the past few months have been for everyone, I’m not about to crap on anyone’s fun. My kids enjoyed swimming in the pool and that’s what matters! Yes, people were “bustling” around the motel until the wee hours in the morning, but I shut my door and turned my AC on and couldn’t hear a thing. Again, I’m happy people are finding enjoyment in life again. All four nights I had a great sleep. My bed was surprisingly comfortable (although I was totally skeeved out by the lack of box spring covering and the cheaply fitted linen that barely covered the mattress). The lights from the exterior hallway definitely shine into the room and the vertical blinds are not great, but they do a good enough job. Like I said, I slept good! The locks need upgrading. No deadbolt- just a doorknob lock with a regular key. I don’t know what happened to the arcade. The game room looks like it’s been turned into a storage room? Maybe it’s closed bc of Covid. No maid service, just a drop off of towels. Not sure if this is a covid thing, but we didn’t mind and actually preferred this. Two beach badges per room are included in your stay but they are first come, first served and you have to stay for more than one night to qualify for this. We used the badges twice and never had an issue getting them in the morning. The hotel is central to everything you could want. We walked to the beach, boardwalk, waterpark, breakfast, etc. I enjoyed this! Food at The Chop House (attached restaurant) is good. We got poolside takeout here twice. Overall, we had a good stay and my kids really enjoyed it. I can only imagine this place was amazing in the 80s! You can tell the owners are very hardworking people. We saw many employees working at all hours of the day/night. They survived hurricane Sandy and are now working thru Covid protocols- can’t imagine it’s been an easy few years. Despite my initial reaction, I’m glad I gave this place a chance. The motel’s imperfections grew on me and it ended up being a great vaca for me and my family.

Wanted to have our granddaughters experience the ocean so the primary requirements were to be close to the beach and a relatively clean room. Being a block off the boardwalk is a plus. Did read reviews on the rooms both pro and con. Upon arrival we did our own inspection and found it odorless and relatively clean, otherwise we would have left. Brought our own pillows, so no pillow complaints. Also prepared food and put it on ice to use mirowave as few restaurants open due to the Chinese covid. Also shopped at local Acme for microwave food. Pool was always clean, sometimes very crowded, sometimes not, impossible to social distance when it is. Been over a month since we were there and none of us have had sickness. No comp. breakfast at this time due to virus, not Hersheys fault. Staff was helpful when we needed local info. Would stay here again.
