We booked to stay in the “Holt Farm House” after a quick google search for somewhere with a hot tub. The hot tub did not disappoint! Ruth was a fantastic host, ensuring we knew how to contact her if needs be (not that we needed anything!). The kitchen was well equipped, the lounge was cosy and the beds were incredibly comfy. The perfect place for a secluded getaway.

My husband booked Holt Wain Cottage for the two of us for a long weekend as we hadn’t been on holiday for a very long time and it was long overdue. Wow! What a place. The cottage was absolutely stunning and spotless. We felt relaxed from the moment we walked through the door. The cottage is beautifully furnished and the beds are so comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped and we didn’t want for anything. The walks are superb and the hot tub was the icing on the cake. Ruth and her team are just brilliant. I can honestly say that our weekend break was the most relaxing one we have ever had and we both can’t wait to go back. Thank you Ruth. We have found our perfect getaway. Hope to see you soon

We stayed 4nts for a 60th birthday celebration hiring all 4 units - Holt Barn, Holt Wain, Holt Stable & Holt Cottage - for friends & family. We were a party of 11-23 (some just stayed one night) with an age range of 10-86yrs. This was the perfect venue for a family celebration - a real find. There was space and quiet areas for older members of the party and lovely walks & 2 hot tubs for all to enjoy. All accommodation is excellent - comfortable sofas, log woodburners, all kitchen and laundry facilities, masses of crockery & glassware, superbly equipped for large parties. Ruth & Gordon have thought of everything. We gathered in the evening for dining in Holt Barn where Ruth had provided extra tables for our large party. This is an amazing converted barn with lots of space for a large party. We managed to host a Strictly Dance Lesson, a Murder Mystery and an Open Mic session in this main area.
I really cannot fault this establishment at all. I suppose there is just one word of warning for those who really have to be in communication the whole time. There is very little mobile signal (a plus in my opinion) though there are landlines in every cottage. Would definitely recommend to all, particularly families who want to get away from it all in beautiful surroundings.

We stayed at Holt Farm during this year's Hay Festival with a party of four adults and three children. The Barn is beautiful - very well equipped and Ruth was very helpful throughout our stay - although we found her partner to be brusque at best.

However, for most of the stay we were left without clean water - there was a problem with the tank due to heavy rain, which meant we had no water to wash ourselves, the dishes or to cook or to drink. Ruth tried to help by providing bottled water and offering us the bathroom in another cottage for one of the days, but after a few days washed out at the festival, it was very inconvenient to be without water - I attach a photo of the water colour we faced!

Upon leaving, we had a very amicable conversation with Ruth about compensation for the inconvenience and she agreed to refund us £250 - approx one night's stay and was very apologetic for the inconvenience and grateful for the lovely condition in which we left the property. We were happy with this and believed the matter to be settled until we tried to book again for next year and had our reservation declined. Perplexed, I phoned Ruth, with whom I'd had a very friendly conversation about a reasonable recompense for a big problem and was told that they had found the issue "very distressing" and came up with some bizarre story about a reservation we'd not honoured, based on a phone enquiry a year earlier about the outside chance of some additional accommodation, despite the fact that I'd never booked or paid a deposit on this alleged "booking", unlike the Barn which I'd booked and paid for in full. I tried to persuade her to reconsider her stance, but eventually realised that I'd rather put over £1000 in more appreciative hands and have booked elsewhere for next year.

This is a lovely venue, but the customer service is amateur at best. Despite this unfortunate ending, Ruth is clearly trying hard to create a good business and deserves to succeed - but the gentleman with whom she shares her business needs some sharp lessons in business etiquette. I wish Holt Farm all the best as it is a lovely place and I hope they can develop a more professional outlook when things go wrong.

Stayed here for the Hay Festival (about 25 mins away in the car).

Cottage is very well decorated with good quality furniture and beds. Kitchen is well equiped. There is a terrace off one of the bedrooms which would have been nice for breafast if the english weather had obliged.

What a wonderful place! We hired the entire complex for a large family get-together for a special birthday celebration and we could not have asked for a better venue. We were blessed with perfect weather which was a real bonus and just right for relaxing in the hot tubs, especially after a long walk! Public footpaths criss-cross the area, so it is easy to do a lovely walk without taking the car. If you are looking for peace and quiet then this is the location for you. We were impressed with the standard of the accommodation and all the little extras that were left for us.

Wonderful setting for a chilled weekend with friends. We booked all properties. Loads of space if you wanted quiet time and big communal areas for dinner and getting together. Loved it. Very well equipped and everything you could possibly need was there. Hot tubs added bonus. We hired bikes and had a fabulous day cycling following recommended route, not for the faint hearted as very hilly but stunning scenery to take in. Only snag was there were no outside lights. It's pitch black at night and potentially very dangerous as you don't know grounds very well. Could be something to look at, but apart from that I would definitely revisit!

We stayed here for an 80th birthday family weekend celebration 7th - 9th November. Gordon, who owns the barn and cottages with his wife Ruth, was there on Friday evening to meet us and show us the accomodation which was great as we arrived in the dark. Ruth and Gordon had sent us really good instructions on how to find the barn and cottages. The location was perfect for us as we needed somewhere to stay big enough for 3 families and close to Grandparents living near Ewyas Harold. The accomodation was excellent for our 3 families and well equipped and we were all able to eat together in the main barn and enjoy a small { due to number of people not size of barn}, kaylee on Saturday evening. There was also lots of hot water. The surrounding countryside is stunning and inspite of the wet weather on Saturday we were able to enjoy a car treasure hunt on Saturday morning which enabled us to find out things about the Abbey at Abbey Dore and the Anglican church in Ewyas Harold and we were also able to experience a short walk/climb in the beautiful mountains on Saturday afternoon. We couldn't get signal on our phones but we could use the landline and Gordon and Ruth were only a phone call away so it was not a problem at all. Ruth and Gordon were very kind and helpful and we all had a wonderful weekend in great accomodation all together.

We stayed here from the 27th September for a week. First the weather couldn't have been any better the sun came out every day which enabled us to make full use of the patio for breakfast and a pre dinner cider or two. The cottage itself is excellent with a well equipped kitchen, large lounge with two sofas dinning table large TV and a music system, the bedroom has a king size bed, ample wardrobe space, dressing table and another TV. The bathroom has a large walk in shower with copious amounts of hot water. The setting is very remote with plenty of walks from the doorstep. Local pubs do have funny opening times so please check information folders provided at the cottage. We had a good roam round local area going to Brockhampton Estate, Berrington Hall, Ludlow, Hay on Wye and Hereford. All in all had a fantastic holiday and Ruth and Gordon who own the cottages are lovely and are only a phone call away although you have to use the landline as we couldn't get a signal from our mobiles.

I stayed in Holt Barn for a weekend in October with some friends to celebrate my hen weekend. The quality of the finishings in the barn is of the highest quality you could ask for and no detail is overlooked. The property is quite a long way from the nearest town - 6 miles doesn't sound far but it is a small country lane - so you need to ensure you have plenty of basic products e.g. milk, bread etc. The peace and quiet is wonderful though and with no light pollution you get amazing stars. Ruth and Gordon offer great service and are really helpful in recommending things to do in the area. We had a great catering company come in one night (Beeton for Time) to serve up a wonderful meal and on the Saturday we had a pampering session in the house. It was such a wonderful property we didn't want to leave and I would definitely return. We did have one situation that was not a problem thanks to Ruth and Gordon - one of the showers in the barn was out of action and therefore they allowed us to use the bedrooms and shower facilities in the Wain House next door. Had this not been available it might have been a challenge for 7 people to use one handheld shower (we didn't know it was a hand held shower) - as it was it was't a problem. The four properties would be great for a big family reunion or party - can't wait to return.
