Detailed Reviews
Everyone I told that we were staying for 5 nights in Chapmans Peak Beach Hotel, particularly locals, were surprised because whilst it does have a great reputation for it's terrace restaurant ( piri piri and calamari!) not many realised that it had such excellent newly revamped accommodation. It was good value for money and you definitely get more than it says on the tin! It has done well to keep the charm of the old hotel with all that you require as a modern traveler. We stayed in a beautiful room with balcony overlooking the magnificent Hout Bay beach, which we delighted in listening to the waves crashing at night and lovely walk each morning before delicious breakfast. The room easily accommodated us and our 7 year old boy on a comfortable sofa bed ( to which I was relegated!). Bathroom superb, loads of wardrobe, excellent WiFi and despite load sharing really good air conditioning - it was early January. The service was really good in all aspects of this clean and charming place. Covered off street parking. Easy distance of everything you would want to see in the greater Capetown area but still nicely away from the bustle. We had just completed a wonderful trip through Zambia and Zimbabwe so it was important that standards did not drop. They didn't and it was a great start to 2020.

We have been coming to the Cape for 7 years and one of the restaurants that features high on our list every year is the Chapman Peak Hotel. It is so reliable and so good. You cannot book a table but that never seems to be a problem. You just go to the very comfortable bar with suitable refreshment and never more than 15 -20 minutes a table appears. Calamari is their famed dish, it is unique in that my wife will only eat calamari there in the world! Says it all really. Wines are good value and the menu is excellent even when not consuming calamari! They have a unique secret recipe which I'm sure if they divulged it would have to be followed by instant death!! Seriously if you go to the Cape drive along Chapman Peak Drive for the best views at sea level in the Cape, lunch at Chapman Peak Hotel and life is sorted.

We spent 2 nights at the Chapmans Peak Hotel and the overall experience was excellent. Our rooms were sea facing and they were large, well appointed and very comfortable. The front desk was friendly and helpful and checkin and checkout was a breeze. There are secured under roof parking facilities with direct access to the hotel, so getting to our car for a trip out was quick and easy. The location is amazing, just before you enter Chapmans Peak Drive and with a view over the main stretching out to the harbor. Finally, the food. Superb dining in the renowned restaurant, a veritable seafood feast. We dined on site both nights, and the tuna, prawns, assorted appetizers, calamari, the delicious beetroot and pumpkin salad, it was all delicious and memorable. Overall this experience ranks amongst the best of my hotel experiences in Cape Town. Highly recommended!

Excellently appointed rooms. Very comfortable extra large beds: good bathrooms and always plenty of hot water.Sea facing rooms with balconies get the sun from about midday until sunset: very lovely. Charming rooftop salt water pool has magnificent views too, with loungers and umbrellas although there are several steps that need to be climbed. Pool menu and drinks can be ordered by phone and are delivered very efficiently.
Unfortunately, from the day I arrived until the day I left noisy work was being carried out to repair the garage gate.
This noise was very intrusive, starting before 9 and continuing until late afternoon, except for the two Sundays I was there. The noise could be heard clearly, and pleasure from sitting on the balcony was completely spoilt.
The lack of understanding and empathy of how it affected residents staying in the hotel at this time was non existent.
A note stuck in the lift pre-empting the work didn’t really cut it.
An personal apology from Management, plus a small goodwill gesture, wouldn't have gone unappreciated. We are talking about less than 25 rooms!!!
However, 12 days later, on the day I left the work was completed so future visitors shouldn’t have to experience this👍
Overall, a lovely old world hotel with modern, updated well equipped rooms.
Would not recommend back facing rooms as no view at all.

Excellent staff service and very accommodating. Special thanks to Vincent and Zakirah for making every effort to make us feel welcome whilst waiting to check in as we were early.
The views are magnificent albeit an old hotel with new rooms.
The rooms are very comfortable and the cleaning staff ensure that the rooms are cleaned really well.
Still focussed on hygiene as there is visibility of sanitiser .

As a local from Cape Town, I recently decided to indulge in a staycation for some rest and relaxation. The Chapmans Peak Hotel emerged as the perfect sanctuary. It's conveniently located in proximity to the city, yet its ambiance transports you to a different realm.
The room was delightful, featuring an enchanting sea view. I spent leisurely moments on the balcony, relishing room service with the hotel's celebrated calamari and a cold beer in hand, all while overlooking the picturesque Hout Bay.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that they're equipped with generators, making them resilient against load-shedding. The room was impeccably clean and comfortable, boasting a spacious bathroom.
Beyond the hotel, I ventured out to explore Hout Bay, and was met with a host of activities and attractions. A drive along Chapman's Peak offered breathtaking views, while the Bay Harbour market was buzzing with life and local craft. I discovered culinary gems like Lucky Bao with its tempting Asian-inspired cuisine, Deus Ex Machina which tantalized my taste buds with exquisite French toast (a must-visit for bike enthusiasts), and Massimo's which I found out was Africa's most acclaimed pizzeria, according to Top50 Pizza.
Given my experience, I can confidently say that Chapmans Peak Hotel will be on my list for more regular staycations in the future. This local gem offered a rejuvenating escape without straying too far from home.

We have been to Hout Bay on numerous occasions , and have normally stayed in apartments, and have eaten in the excellent restaurants on a number of times.
This year our visit was shorter , so we stayed in the Hotel.
From the start everything was excellent, we were met at reception by Annalise , who was excellent and helpful throughout our stay. We stayed in the Penthouse, which was excellent, spacious, comfortable and what a view !.
Breakfast was superb and the staff were excellent especially Normzee .
We ate in the restaurant , a number of times and it was also excellent, as were the staff.

We needed to stay close to the nature reserve on Chapman’s Peak Drive and this hotel fitted the bill . Small boutique hotel with friendly staff . Rooms were well appointed and our view of the Hout Bay beach was a pleasure to wake up to each morning . Walking distance to beach , coffee shops Ana restaurants makes for a good location . One draw back is arriving early in the morning is not as convenient as you need to call the night security to get into the hotel and the parking area . Otherwise nice place to stay for a romantic weekend

Amazing location - incredible view of Hout Bay and the Table Mountains National Park with Chapmans Peak Drive at your door step. What a great experience and such wonderful customer service from the time we booked until the moment we left - staff and management friendly, very professional and rooms super clean. They have a very busy restaurant we always felt well looked after and nothing was a problem. This is a busy location but we felt we had a private and quiet space. Food was very very good - we ate at the hotel every night we had no desire to try elsewhere for dinner.
